I store in my NOTES App all my passwords. (I know, stupid, but there you have it.) I can no longer access them despite several hours of piddling and trying to understand Apple directions. Any genuineness out there who can instruct me how to restore them? thanks in advance.

Are you not able to find the Notes app or your notes in the app? If it’s the latter, have you tried to go to the Folders section in the app to see if you are in a different folder than where you had the notes- this has happened to me in the past.

    good luck!

Click on your note app. At the top left it says folders. Click on that. It should take you to current notes and deleted notes. Check in the deleted notes. They may be there.

if you click and it says IPhone instead, Click on that for the drop down showing current and recently deleted notes.

Brutal. Check Folders, like mentioned above. They may be backed up to your icloud, too (but icloud can bring a whole new set of frustrations). Also, the old classic - restart the phone.

Your passwords are also stored in Your general settings.

If all else fails, go to the Apple Store and let them restore the file from the cloud. Great thing about almost every modern smart phone, even if you are not backing up to the cloud, you are backing up to the cloud. You messages, passwords, previously typed account numbers, etc....all there.

How about I try spectrum, my provide, first? Otherwise, I’ll have to travel to Tampa.

Spectrum can’t help you. The connection to cloud is secured by Apple so they’d have no way to access it,

When I open “notes” on my iPad, there is a search feature. Have you tried searching for a term that you is in your lost document? If it’s there, it should find it and relink you to it.

I'm not techy at all but seems unlikely to me that your info is truly lost forever. I know weird things have happened with my iphones when I needed to do an update and/or when my storage space was getting very low.

Have you handed your phone to a teenager? That usually works for me when I can't find something or figure out how to use an app.

Go to be careful with that, though, because he’s trying to find his list of passwords.

I feel your pain. I fried my chromebook laptop a week or two ago. I hated the thing so made sure I replaced it with a Windows 11 laptop. Spent several days getting my apps set up on the new laptop. The old chromebook stored most of it's files on the Google Cloud. Trying to download files from the cloud was a pain in the ass. Then downloading the apps was worse, I picked up a browser hijacker that snuck by McAfee and I had to work with their idiot Indian tech support people.

I know they're there, taunting me. I bought my phone at spectrum, and I know there will be a tech there who knows what to do.

I thank those here who gave me hints.

Not to be insulting but did you simply change folders?

Go out and use the search function. That searches deleted too.

The ones who don't get jobs at convenience stores go to work for McAfee. By the way, who is the idiot, the McAfee tech guy with an accent or the person who installed a browser hijacker?

I don't suppose you own a Mac? If you do, the Notes app is much easier to manage and search if you are logged into the same iCloud account with it.
