I remember this exact thing said about 14 years ago about this defensive minded coach. Just get him an offensive play caller to go along with him and he’s golden! Can’t miss! I believe his name was Will Muschamp. How did that work out again?
Maybe. The team should select a leader to be someone that should be sought out for opinions. If that is Lagway, so be it. If its not, then perhaps the remainder of the team may not look so kindly on the staff only getting the Lagway fam's opinion. They may feel a bit underappreciated.
Incomplete and sub par staffs have been a huge issue. We need a coach to bring top notch guys along and with enough connections and gravitas to pull them. And an AD who knows how to ensure it.
JMU hired him away from Elon after he snapped JMU's 22 game conference winning and 19 game home winning streak. Elon had been 4-20 in conference before his arrival. JMU moved up to FBS in his 4th year there and would would have made conference title game in both of first 2 years in Sun Belt had they been eligible. WR coach and recruiting coordinator on Saban's initial staff at Bama. He has a disconcerting amount of overlap with Napier outside of his success so far at Indiana and longer track record of winning at every place he has been.
Not the same at all. Will was an inexperienced and unproven head coach. Oddly enough, most of the top coaches in college have a strong background on the defensive side of the ball. (Saban, Smart, Urban) If you an't bringing a great defense you an't winning a championship. Period.
I know! I tried to get the poll question changed to yes I was here though page 136, this place is weird. To no avail.
UF under Napier would be 5-1, maybe even 6-0 after this coming weekend against this schedule. Indiana Schedule YTD with FPI Florida International (112) Western Illinois (FCS) UCLA (78) Charlotte (123) Maryland (30) Northwestern - Oct 5th (86)
An awful schedule for sure and pointing this out doesn't lend much to Cignetti as a coach one way or the other but I'm not so sure Napier would do as well as you suggest. Keep in mind this was a home game last year and we look worse this year.
