While I'm not obsessed with rankings, Softball America has updated their rankings. I can only see the top 10 as I am not a subscriber. Caroline remains #1. Texas has #2 and #4. UGA has #10. I said Beth was hot...LSU has 5,6,7, and 9.
I was reading a way to early softball poll by a Ryan Aber of the Oklahoman. #1 Texas #2 Florida #3 Oklahoma. I think the race for the SEC Championship will be more competitive more interesting and harder to win than the WCWS.
NCAA softball rankings: Way-Too-Early Top 25 led by Texas, Florida, OU 1. Texas 2. Florida 3. Oklahoma 7. Texas A&M 10. Tennessee 11. Alabama 15. Arkansas 16. Missouri 17. Georgia 20. South Carolina 22. Mississippi State 25. LSU Stacked is an understatement.
According to Google Vandy will never have a softball team for they haven't the space to build a softball facility.
Just realized the article is behind a paywall. It did not happen to me the first time I saw it and linked it. Anyway, very short article so a copy and paste: Buford junior Caroline Stanton made a recent commitment to the University of Florida fastpitch softball program. The pitcher, ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2026, has led Buford to state championships in each of her first two high school seasons. She was the Gwinnett Diamond Club and Region 8-AAAAAAA Pitcher of the Year last season when she went 14-0 with a 0.77 ERA and 147 strikeouts, in addition to hitting .384 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs. She also maintains a 4.0 GPA. Facebook Twitter Email
ufgator72sb in Augusta GA will not have power restored until October 9th. He hopes to return to posting on this board again then.
Thanks. He and I haven't had our almost daily chats since he has to drive around town to even find a cell signal and I didn't want to bother him when he has much bigger problems. He did send a day after the storm a picture of his house with a tree that had crashed through the second story roof.
There has been one more commitment from a kid who Tim dropped long ago. I haven't checked the rest of them in a couple days. Anyway, Ki'ele Ho-Ching has committed to Oklahoma. She is from Long Beach and is a very highly rated middle infielder who plays for Athletics Mercado. First one from the original list to Oklahoma although they have commitments from three others so far that were not on my list.
Caroline got the win in relief yesterday for Buford. I posted a week or so ago that Buford won the Regional Championship because that's what they said but it confused me because our high school season (still in Georgia) hasn't finished. I think Georgia has dumped regional playoffs. Not sure. I think what Buford meant was they have already clinched top seed in their region. Anyway, in the category "ain't sports great", Buford won yesterday over Mill Creek 3-2 when, with two outs in the 7th, a freshman (2028 class) by the name of Taylor Sawyer, pinch hit with a walk off 2 run bomb. I think Caroline is the tall blonde along the third base line.
Power is back in my part of Augusta. House is uninhabitable but I’m making it. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I will do my best to keep up with this softball thread, and I will be at as many games as I can make in the spring. Thanks again for all the well wishes.
Prayers for you and yours and all the others who have had it as bad or worse. Every day is a gift from God and we can never take anything for granted because it could all be gone in an instant. God Bless.
