Beating FSU would be absolutely demoralizing for their already depressed fan base. I’m here for that always! I’d love to steal the UK and LSU game as well. Get to 6-6, fire SS and let the chips fall.
I watched them go toe to toe with Georgia, and they looked super physical. I will always hope and cheer for my gators, but I’ve become comfortably numb over the last 5-6 years. What’s happened to Gator football is a travesty!
the next time this staff comes up with something different they use to exploit a weakness of our opponent will be the first time. I expect the same offensive and defensive plans with no wrinkles. Head into brick wall play calling over and over.
I’m Not a history buff but my fanhood started in 94-95 and LSU was a counted win for my first 3 years. I remember being STUNNED when they beat us at home. It was during the Era Festival at the Fairgrounds and that was the first time they beat us and I always blamed myself for not going. lol we were all listening on a radio and I was in disbelief. I also didn’t understand why SOS hated UGA so much so ya know, perspective. Noles always were biggest rival those days and because of 96 I like that. Was at the game they “beat” us and then week after when we destroyed them for our first national. Thanks for the info though!
Great anecdote! The last 15 years have been toughest on those Gators who were introduced to Florida football from 1990-2001 and 2006-2009, thinking that was the norm rather than the extraordinary exception...
Two more, not sure which ones though. Probably not UCF, though. They will be licking their wounds and pissed off after yesterday.
Probably true. What bothers me the most is that for many years we played solid ball and every coach since the 1940's had a season or two where they were close to winning the SEC title. There were a few down years at the end of the Dickey to Pell transition, but nothing like the disgrace we've experienced under Napier. Its almost like UF has forgotten how to play football....its sad to watch. We can hope and pray this is the rock-bottom. It appears to be a long, difficult climb back.
I’m trying not to look past the UCF game and just hope we see a much better and more inspired team on the field for that one. I’m really a die hard Gator optimist but, it’s getting hard. Sitting in the stands through Miami and Texas A&M has done more to deflate this old man’s confidence about our football future than anything I have endured as a Gator. And that’s just south of 80 years.
Agree. Kentucky has been the more physical team than Florida the last few years and that's not changing this year. They will continue to beat us up in the trenches and unless we get lucky with turnovers, I don;t see us beating them. UCF and FSU are my only hope and I have doubts about both. Would LOVE to be wrong, though.
