Outplayed at every position on the court. Not prepared at all for a team with 2 players. The errors are really concerning. Wide hits on open or single swings and whiff on over passes. Oklahoma is an average team. They need to make the adjustments sooner like letting Kennedy waste serves for 4 sets. Maybe put Harden in more when your under sized OH has a 6 ft 7 blocker on them. Also need significantly more middle hitter involvement on good passes. This match could have been won in 4 sets by simply not giving 4 service errors a set.
OMG. This team has no quit, no give-up. I'm a sunshine pumper, but even I thought we were cooked at 10-5 in set 5. Not a ranked opponent, but the comeback made a big statement and will serve us well for the future in tough situations. GO GATORS! NOTE TO SELF: Order more nitro pills. Used them up in this game.
In all seriousness though, down 9-3 in the fifth in a match we had to win with UK and UT coming behind this. Really important comeback for their season. Stuckey looked rusty (the serve receive wasn’t helping that), but hopefully she shakes that off.
CMW and her Gator VB team dug deep and pull out a win. 3-2 (15-13 in the 5th). Kennedy reversed her game and had 18 kills and hitting .248 after having a hitting percentage .000 in the middle of set 3 with only 8 kills. Nice come back. AC Fitzpatrick had 17 kills. Alexis Stucky had 44 assists. Florida had 12 service aces , Alexis Stucky with 4, Elli had 3, Kennedy had 2.
Incredible coaching to be outplayed at every position on the court and win. Has that ever occurred in the history of the sport?
A little harsh on my end. That post was around 9 to 3 5th set and the same issues all night were still happening. AC and Rothe were solid and probably the deciding factor. There is still no excuse for that many service errors. Kennedy should have been pulled before 5th set on that and I still think Harden should have had more opportunities because it was evident that Martin had a big mismatch on 2 rotations and maybe a bigger player might have had an impact. I just find it hard to believe that just a couple of relatively unknown players can make that program as competitive with our vast list of highly touted and successful players. They have had to gut out a lot of matches already. Hopefully things will click better as the season goes but we have a slim margin for error when Oklahoma comes this close.
I watch OU beat KS 3-0 with only two players scoring, Geissenber (#27) and Shelton (#12). They weren’t sharp at all in that match. Tonight they seemed to bring their A game, and involved more players. Their Coach had a different game plan for the Gators. We did not help ourselves with hitting errors in the 2nd (.077)and 3rd (.129) sets. But we reverse our play in the final two sets (.367 set 4 and .278 set 5) to pull out the win.
