Tim has added two new players to the list. Both play for Georgia Impact. Nina Carcone is a shortstop from Woodstock, GA and Shayla Bahr lists herself as a center fielder and shortstop. She is from Norcross, GA. I wonder if this means Tim knows he's going to miss a couple.
From a softball publication…. Florida head coach Tim Walton announced the additions of Gabi Comia, Layla Lamar, Katelynn Oxley, Taylor Shumaker and Townsen Thomas to the program during national signing day. The five additions to the program from the 2024 signing class hail from the states of Florida, California, Indiana, Texas and North Carolina. The Gators class featured four players ranked in the Extra Elite 100 rankings led by Comia who is ranked third. Shumaker is ranked fourth, while Lamar is sixth and Oxley is ranked ninth.
Man, I am ready for softball season to start tomorrow. It will be VERY interesting to see how the starting lineups develop because there's going to be a lot of competition for playing time and those ladies who don't put in the extra work are going to get left behind. Coach Walton has a loaded roster for 2025 and I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Kylie Shaw is in the class that signs this November. I am impressed on how hard she works: MOB Fitness on Instagram: "Hardest Worker In The Room #mobfit #mobfitness #athletictrainer #athletictraining #athleticperformance #smallgrouptraining #smallgrouptrainer #themechanic #strengthmobility #mobilitytraining #mobility #movement #efficientmovement #explosivepower #explosiveness #corestrength #coreexercises #functionaltraining #functionalfitness #functional-strength #ftmyersfitnesstraining #ftmyersfitness #ftmyersfit #swflfitness #swflfit #namaste"
So, at this point, another day goes by and there has been no movement in any direction from the top prospects on our list. Seems strange that none of them are making a decision. You would think their options are clearly defined and they just need to pull the trigger one way or the other.
The first group of top hs prospects in this sport holding out for the biggest offer? It’s coming, and once it gets here, it’s only going to get worse in the years to come.
Gator Tales with Sean Kelley: Emmitt Smith & Amanda Lorenz - Florida Gators What we learn is Sophia Reynosa came up with Mandy Softball as the nickname for Amanda Lorenz. The two of them were roommates as teammates.
Interesting. Shayla Bahr is one of the two Georgia Impact players Tim added late to the list. While I don't know much about her and I am far from addicted to various rankings, Softball America thinks she's a pretty good player:
Things overall remain very quiet on the recruiting front. None of the kids still active on my list for us have moved. Three that we dropped some time ago have committed. Two to FSU...Ava Lorenzatti, a rhp from Illinois playing for Beverly Bandits (Comia's old team) (we got Stanton so that could be why we dropped her) and Kaylee Goodpaster, a kid from Panama City playing for the Thunderbolts. The other was Aubrey Moore, a two way player from Ackworth, GA who camped with us twice but committed to A&M.
I sort of didn't really register this when it was posted but....so Caroline Stanton has been coached by Keagan's mom, probably others, and is now in the hands of Cat Osterman!!!!! Wow. What an education.
Duh...I'm old and slow. Now I'm trying to remember. I think it was the Alliance All-American game and Cat was directly talking to a pitcher that was her protege and the pitcher was talking back to her WHILE SHE WAS TRYING TO PITCH. I said at that time "this is nuts...how is this kid, who is now struggling some, supposed to pitch and talk on tv with Cat at the same time"? Was it Caroline? I'm not sure.
I'm trying to find a replay of the Alliance game to see if that constant back and forth on every pitch was Cat and Caroline and I can't find it. But I did find the PGF All-American game so if you want to watch Red mow them down after winning a national championship earlier that day....start at 35:00.
I totally agree Ocala. This team is so loaded that I think every player on this roster with the exception of one or two players would start on any other team in the SEC. I hope TW can keep them all happy and together. It sure is going to be fun to follow this group of superstars.
One of our graduate assistants is Kate Young. She was a southpaw pitcher from Leigh University. She has a Finance degree and is majoring in Sports Management at UF. Welcome Kate to Gator Country!
I think this team is so good that if TW just played his 12 freshman and sophomores they would be competitive in the SEC and could possibly win it.
