Ahh, the once in a blue moon Napier win. First power 4 win since October 2023. Glad the players got to enjoy it. We have some good offensive talent. Whole team needs coached up still.
Any win on the road in the SEC is a good win. Almost half of the postgame comments are negative. It’s pretty bad when half the fan base can’t enjoy a win.
I doubt many were hoping for a loss. No one believes Napier can save his job at this point. Might as well win the winnable games.
MSU was playing a hurry up offense, which limited our ability to substitute, but on multiple 3rd and long situations, Watson was in the game. Still haven't figured out our defensive packages or are we just taking turns for PT
I think our defense may have turned a corner today. They held the 114th best offense in the nation to a mere 28 points.
That was a very bad Mississippi St. team. As others have said, I’m glad for the win, glad for the players. From a “was any progress shown” perspective, though, the answer is “no.” Toledo beat that team 41-7 last week. Today the Gator defense continued to play poorly; and while Mertz had a great game, most of the offense’s success was due to the gap in individual talent the Gators enjoyed, not in any real improvement in the offensive scheme and play calling. This was a game they should have won going away. They didn’t. I absolutely hope I’m wrong; but I think it’s likely the last “W” until FSU. If Napier can keep the players focused and energized following the brutal (and likely winless) October and November they will have endured, they do have a chance to beat FSU.
I usually agree with you. Not on this. Sometimes flaws are surfaced or revealed even in wins. The Gators get the W, no doubt. And again: I’m glad for the players. This win was not a “good win,” though.
