Even though the on-field results were disappointing in 2021, its obvious that both of the coaches that Stricklin fired were for off-field misadventures. To me, this suggests some sort of cult of personality somewhere in the administration at UF. Mullen should have gotten another year to see if he could right the ship. That he didn't tells me that there isn't much of an impetus to put a winning product on Florida Field rather than one that will toe the administrative line and continue to generate boatloads of cash. Sadly, I don't think anything has changed to this day and they will have to be hit hard in the pocketbook in order to make systematic changes.

 

I would be hoping that it would be to drop Stricklin off at his new home, but I don't think I'll get my wish.

If the goal is to be different, getting a bunch of guys who’ve never handled a d1 coaching search to find the new coach would be…different.

Unless you meant the on the field transition, not the hire, but that would also be…different.

 

The transition and GM position. I guess it’s better than doing the same thing they’ve been doing the last decade plus.

 

Who knows if it will be better, but it’s definitely different.

 

Serious question, what is Georgia's record if Napier was the coach there? What is ours if Smart was our coach? Same talent of course.

 

Mullen definitely made his share of mistakes. Compared to what Stricklin replaced him with, he looks like a combo of Don Shula, Tom Landry, Bill Parcells, and Bill Belichik all rolled into one.
