Any interim coach would be a current assistant on the staff. I don't see any scenario where an outsider comes in halfway through the season, especially someone with zero familiarity of the program
none of that matters. I am talking about UF creating a new position all together outside of the HC. someone to oversee football operations and provide a football biased mindset to the admins.
You will get down-voted for this, but this is partially true. The more generic problem is that the football operations model is outdated. It worked from 1992 to 2008, so why will it not work today? If the business model does not change by revamping UAA or dissolving it and creating new organizations (perhaps separate football non-profit, Olympic non-profit, and varsity non-profit organizations) under different business models. The relationship among UAA, Gator Boosters, independent wealthy donors, NIL collectives, and middle class donors needs to change. An independent research firm should evaluate UF and make tangible recommendations. UF president Kent Fuchs will be a hard sell because he prioritizes academics heavily over athletics, but he still has power as the interim president to make changes if people around him agree to take UF in a new direction from its 1990s era business model for athletics.
