Makes sense. Our defense looks like it has never faced a running qb in practice (after facing about a dozen of them during his tenure).

Wow! Such a self incriminating indictment on his coaching ability and that of his staff. Also his ability to recruit/portal scout team players.

7 QB's on the roster and not one of them besides QB1 and 2 is a dual threat brought in to specifically be the primary scout team QB.

Napier won’t be here next year but I can just imagine how he’d react to the new rule of no more walk ons and scholarships going from 85 to 104.

“Well, we had been working hard on our scout team and had just figured it all out but were sort of taken aback if not blind sided by the new rule on walk ons. We should have added about 20 more players to scholarship so we are a bit behind the 8 ball - we will evaluate this during the next off season”

This speaks more of SS who failed vetting this coach, seems he was more concerned about character and focus word "build program" that he excluded any other coaching candidates. SS nor BN will suffer all that much other than embarrassment, they will come out of the wealthy, but they sure dug a hole for UF that will take years to recover.

Almost like never really has taken charge and held anyone accountable. Inability to recognize he had to behave like, "I'm running this show. This is how we do it. Get on board, or don't." The HBC and Urban had no problems with that, and their success tells the tale, and that included assistants.

I think Napier bamboozled everyone. I know he did me. I think SS thought he was a winner and had this vision of "building" our program, which we needed. And that has happened, in part due to Napier.

But the emperor has no clothes. He can't coach.

If it took being in year 3 to realize the scout team wasn't doing good portraying the opponent, then the HBC is clearly out of touch with the program, or is too busy staring at his outdated offensive playback figuring our which of the same 5 plays he should run first.

Our next coach better not have any coordinator duties and actually oversee the ENTIRE program.

C'mon, it is really simple why our scout team has been poor: they spend the practices counting to 11 for the special teams. That takes time. You all want too much...

Condolences on your loss Bazza. Losing a parent is never easy, but it sounds like you had an exceptional mother. Back on the subject of Napier. One thing that has bothered me since year one (aside from bringing in coaches that had coached in smaller conferences)was the complete lack or urgency and killer instinct by staff and players alike.

Was sent a photo of Napier's scout team. This could be part of the problem.

Heck, there are 12 players on the Scout team and they still can't perform?

Seems like they are getting the same training as the scholarship players!

I knew most of the coaches Napier brought with him were "small school/conference coaches" but until just now when i actually went through one by one and examined their coaching histories, did I realize just how little experience they truly had coaching at prominent schools/conferences. Of our 11 main assistants/coordinators (not counting our slew of analysts) only 7 have any kind of experience coaching at bigger schools. Of those Billy Gonzalez is by far and away the most tenured and decorated coach. Rob Sale had 1 yr a piece at Georgia, ASU, and NY Giants (OL) respectively (Giants graded as worst blocking unit that year). Ron Roberts 4 years DC between Baylor, and Auburn. Mike Peterson 5 yrs at USCEast(LB), Juluke 1 yr LSU (RB) ,Chatman 1yr DC/DL Colorado, Will Harris 3 years WU(DB). This explains a big part of the reason we're seeing the product that we do on the field. I feel a lot of the ones I mentioned, outside of only a few even had enough time to cut their teeth and really see how the bigger more successful programs are run. Not to mention time to learn/retain and being able to implement those practices here.

Yup SunBelt, Mountain West, and Conference USA were the most common. And looking at our TE Coach, it's no wonder Napier named him Co-OC, prior to last year he was a Defensive Intern at UF and Bama, his most extensive offensive experience was 3 years OC at Samford(won't be second guessed).

You know teams that don’t have to freak out about tempo? Teams that run tempo. It HAS to be a requirement for the next coach. The new clock rules are killing teams that don’t prioritize getting possessions and the teams that run tempo are doing fine.
