Tonight I will making mezzi rigatoni with a mild Italian sausage and fennel ragu. The "secret" ingredient is fennel pollen. Also uses passata as the tomato base for the sauce. Just think of it as strained Italian tomatoes. One can make their own and someday I will using San Marzano tomatoes and a chinois to strain the tomatoes. But one can buy this at Publix but not usually labeled as such. Originally my wife was going to have dinner with two of her lady lawyer friends and then she called and said that the dinner plans fell apart so I got the few things that I need to make this dish because I know it is one of her favorites. My plan was to soften the blow. Then she called and said that one of her friends still wanted dinner and asked me to join them. I suggested having dinner at our house instead with this particular dish. That plan was met with her hearty approval.

Last night was leftovers and delicious. Tonight will be Thai takeout after attending a political fund raiser for a local issue. It is all about "home rule". If I say any more it will be kicked over to "Too Hot".
