Oh my, errbody should click the link and see how well so many once highly thought of(here) former players are doing elsewhere. Really cements the notion of poor development here. But why, and how could it have been this bad? What was Napier believing he saw in practice? Hard to grasp.

Even Jalen Farmer performing better at Kentucky than some of our starters? Is that real? :)

Yep the opposite of love is not hate, it's apathy. When no one gives a damn anymore that is a serious problem.

It was coaching with both staffs. APR and McMillan hurt last year as well. We still had gaping holes with what Mullen left but we basically lost the best talent we had on defense with the exodus especially when you factor Hopper and Princely in.

All true but I cannot help but ask why, or if, Napier and Co tried to keep those players, through their analytics decided they weren't talented enough, or arrogantly decided they would just recruit over the departures in a jiffy.

Interesting SOS comments on Dooley's podcast...

He noted that we need a change in attitude. The effort level and play level needs to be improved. If they can't change it we'll find out. Somebody needs to get mad and yell on the sidelines.

The most important comment seem to be that we need to give Billy a chance and let it play out. He may still be able to get it turned around. It was hard to tell whether he was in favor of just keeping Napier and everyone until later in the year or beyond the end of the year. But both he and Dooley thought that this wasn't the time to fire him.

That gives us a little bit more of an indication of what the thought process is on the inside

I think this is the fundamental problem with CBN but it's not a lack of desire to win. He comes up with what he believes is the best plan to win and attempts to execute it, but the feedback loop on the intergame results is not factored in to making changes. He believes so much that his plan gives us the best chance to win, he unable to change it. As I quoted Mike Tyson in another thread "Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth" and we don't seem to be able to adapt to a bloody lip.

I honestly think this one of the inherent problems with analytics, in that you try to take away 'emotion' from the equation. You can look at the final score of a game, of individual stats, yards per play, etc, but hard to tie a coaches decision based on a feeling which can sure affect the result. Emotion (like momentum) is a big part of the game and there is a reason a lot of good coaches can use it to their advantage.

They kept them one year for the most part so I doubt anyone was sent packing (although I hear APR had a lockeroom issue?) and presumably was at least attempted to keep on the roster.

Okay, but you have to imagine the mullen era players needed strong leadership and direction, or a fresh start. They must have decided the new staff would not get them there and moved on. I think a HC that instilled confidence and a vision they believed in would have kept many. Water under the bridge I guess.

I suspect various "planned" scenarios will happen. One plan; fire BN right before the bi week especially with a loss to MSU. This gives the powers to be time to figure out who will coach and all other t's that need to be crossed. 2) Fire after a huge blowout either by UT or UGA. Believe me Ut would love to run up the score on us and they have the team that could do it. 3) Fire after the 7th loss which means another losing season under BN.
Suffice it to say BN will be fired. I think the longer they can put it off for the sake of dotting all I's and crossing all T's is a prudent move. Keep in mind there are plenty of hurdles to manage as in sub President, who is most qualified to step in and coach and to do their best to lose a good number of committed recruits. A delay may also give them time to gage interest from prospective coaches.

I've been a Gators fan since I went to Florida in 84.

My wife and I both have 2 degrees from UF and have been together for 30 years.

We have been to at least 100 home games.

She told our son who is in Gainesville that she had never seen me not get mad during a Gator game.

I work out a lot and my testosterone is fine.

    Let that sink in.

Since they didn't do it this week my guess is it happens after the next loss. Hopefully we at least beat MSU and UCF which would mean he's gone after Tennessee shreds our defense.

To no one’s surprise. The $1.2mil play charter is up in the box.

Many of these are not impressive at all. 143 passer rating allowed is supposed to make me feel bad that player left?

Nice try, Dan. Stop hacking accounts and trying to make it look like you were a good head coach. People don't forget that quickly....... At least the ones who were paying attention.

and a few of them are impressive/solid. Def could use Braun and Mazzo on the OL, McMillian at safety, McClellon at DT, and Princley and APR at DE.

Don’t disagree but when you say in your own presser that the plan was to rotate the qbs regardless of outcome you are not interested in winning. Most coaches say they’ll play the personnel that give them the best chance to win. Billy basically said they both practiced hard so the reward was rotation. This isn’t peewee football and partially why I think we’re in this position. He’s too nice and if you look at the coaches who are uber successful at this level they are ruthless. Watching Kirby during the KY game vs Billy is night and day.

This makes it seem like hiring Roberts was done out of desperation. It’s not surprising that the defense is terrible yet again.
