Ask Spurrier to take over as interim head ball coach.

    Call of Duty.

Quoted myself to compare one of maclweins deficiencies with what we knew about Napier prior to hiring him on the back of his 2021 sun belt title year. Found these numbers on another page. Napiers record against the spread from 2021...

Nicholls: Favored by 26-won by 3
South Alabama: Favored by 12- won by 2
Arkansas State: Favored by 18-won by 1
Georgia State: Favored by 13-won by 4
    Louisiana–Monroe: Favored by 21-won by 5

If you look at maclweins offense at Colorado state, they were 102 and 101 in total offense his first 2 years and then a considerable jump to 22 in his third with a balanced offense.

Mullen was known to be a lazy recruiter at Florida and at Miss State prior to his return to Florida.

Point being their tendencies were there for everyone to see yet people (myself included) hoped things would be different at Florida.

Macs offenses were in the bottom tier at Florida just like 2 out of 3 years at Colorado state.

Florida didn't make Mullen a better recruiter.

Napier despite winning the sun belt underperformed against the spread over and over despite having the most talented team in that conference. He wasn't going to have a talent advantage at Florida against the toughest conference in the country either.

The signs were there...5 double digit favorites all won by 1 score.

Spurrier would have to start from scratch. His ways and terminology would be totally different. Might make things worse with that learning curve in mid season. It is all great to think he can come in and dominate, but it just doesn't work that way. Shane Matthews also feels that this wouldn't be a good idea for the same reason.

Exactly this muschamp had what seemed like a new offensive coordinator every year but he throttled them.

The Fun n' Gun was hardly clicking on all cylinders at USCe. Not sure it would work here, either. The man is nearly 80. We need to leave him alone.

We are not getting SOS as interim coach lol. Urban Meyer is not coming back. Tebow is not going to come work for us lol. Need to stop leaning on those names. I will be shocked if BN is not fired today before the press conference. While I like Napier, and I really wanted him to be the guy, it just does not make sense to keep him any longer. The team is uninspiring. We need to do something different, and I dont expect Napier to be the one to make that happen right now. He has lost the trust of all of Gator Nation. Hard to come back from that

Maybe the Admins only thing they care about now for the season is beating UCF. Perhaps they think BN gives us the best shot versus a flailing coach-less team.

He was his own OC for the first several years, and after that, Junior certainly wasn't going to cross dad. Pretty hard to saddle the blame on an OC of a Spurrier-coached team.

Add to that the fact that he is 79 years old and while still sharp mentally he is feeling those years physically.
Asking him to be interim coach would be doing him and his family a disservice. His love for UF and competitive nature just might lead him to do it.
He has earned his place in Gator history and his retirement.

I think Billy needs to throw a Hail Mary and let DJ take over as QB1. The team had a different energy when he was THE guy during the Samford game. The way things are going right now, he WILL get fired this season. The only way that doesn't happen is if DJ lights it up. But like I said, it's a Hail Mary. Why not. He has nothing to lose.
