And the next slow talking “straight shooter” isn’t bear bryant. Many have their preferred image of a coach but the reality is there are many ways to succeed.

Looking at potential options for the uf spot, who is more accomplished and available than kiffin? That question, not personality, needs to drive the discussion in my eyes.

We are not hiring the next Napier, Mullen, Meyer or muschamp. We need a coach who is as close to possible of a sure thing given our current state. And sure thing means gets us to 8-10 wins with a chance of playing for titles. Kiffin qualifies and instead of impugning those who throw out his name, we should consider alternatives.

It is a pressure cooker but so is any other program that demands striving for championships. SOS is our goat no doubt and he only got one. I’m sure that 10 wins isn’t good enough was that pressure he talking about. But that is reality. If debour wins ten games at name for five straight year and keeps losing his playoff games, there will be pressure. Go to ole miss if you want that to be good enough.

Exactly, and if that happens guess what? He has to pay us, not the other way around.

Is Dabo a realistic alternative? I realize he is anti-portal but at least his teams play hard and he has proven he is a good recruiter of Florida talent.

I think everyone understands modern day football. Many don’t like it, but it is what it is. If you’re going to play a game with no rules, then play your game with your own rules. You don’t sleep with hookers and then complain that you can’t find a good partner. It’s one or the other.

I will grant you that Kiffen would be an improvement, but he has really not shown that he is a championship caliber coach. His multiple indiscretions in his (UT, USC, and UA) his colorful past indicate character issues. Screwing college girls doesn’t help his case either.

Given that this may be our last opportunity to be relevant again, this hire will require a lot of debate and a lot of preplanning to put a strategy in place to retain the players that should be retained and to buy the first recruiting class. The new coach will not be on board in time to build his own.

IF, I say if, Sticklin is let go the only interim AD project at UF would and should be Spurrier. If he would do it till they hired an AD.
as far as interim coach. Let the Interim AD make that Decision especially if it's spurrier. Because there needs to be some changes made and not keep doing everything the same way. Maybe just maybe that Will light a fire under some of these coaches and players. Or no one will want then after the season is over

We seriously need to stop placing expectations on Spurrier. He is 79 and has a bad back. He is already UF Ambassador, which is more than most people his age do.

Listen to his 2 cents, let him hang around all activities, but please don’t throw responsibilities and expectations at him.

Sounds a lot like that Meyer fella tbh. Not that those traits make a great coach, but, maybe just maybe a little of that goes a long way in a room full of alphas. That's what elite players are and that's what they respect. A football locker room differs greatly from a boardroom with HR leering over their shoulders. I believe UGA just got their 27th reckless driving/DUI under Smart and no one seems to care except fans of other teams. Aggressive people win football games. No more process and culture corporate stooges. Give me some damned animals who are only focused on winning. I'd prefer no murderers this time around though(Joiner and Hernandez).

According to this, dabo may not be at Clemson long. Analyst Doesn't Believe Dabo Swinney Will Be With Clemson Tigers Long-Term

Dabo has 2 titles and a sterling record. He seems a stable guy that maybe those on here who reject kiffin would like (should that matter?).

And he is a huge question mark with the portal. He won with 5th year srs, and has fallen behind on talent with the portal. Principled good guys get fired for failing to do their job, and I’d worry he’d be another - though he would undoubtedly exceed the Napier incompetence.

Don’t you think part of the reason we’ve gone through so many coaches is because we keep looking for a Billy Donovan? I mean relatively cheap but high potential?

It’s not that he has a question mark with the portal, he simply rejects it.

I said this earlier in this thread, Kelly and Riley have also had the last 2 Heisman winners at QB and have one SEC West title between the 2 of them to show for it. Nothing is a lock.

I don't get the constant "pressure cooker" analogy with UF.

Gator fans like wins against UT, UGA, FSU. 8-9 wins and a decent bowl game. UF is not a pressure cooker and never really was.

Bama & Georgia??? Those are pressure cookers. UGA fans about fainted away in that UK game. Hell look at Kirby screaming and rolling around; borderline manic depressive rage fit.

When we are good, that is exactly how it is here. Spurs called it feeding the beast. The beast is never satisfied. Urbs melted under the pressure.

And doesn’t that create a question of him being a viable head coach in college football today? It does to me.

Yeah let’s replace a guy with a losing record with another guy with a losing record. But hey he’s a Gator so he must be good.
