Against this schedule, I don't envision a scenario where Billy wins 8 games and is fired.

Not that I don't agree with the points you made about his coaching or how he runs the program, I do. But we've already lost one game. Getting to 8 would mean he goes 7-3 the rest of the way. Let's assume we win all the most "winnables" remaining: A&M, MSU, Kentucky, UCF, FSU. That puts us at 6 wins.

That means winning two of Tennessee, LSU, Texas, Georgia, and Ole Miss. The last three are top five teams. No way he doesn't survive that accomplishment.

 

That struck me as much as anything when he said the boosters like SS and want to keep him. They're okay ponying up a ton of money to clean up SS's mistake, but they're still all happy with him? Doesn't track IMO.

I was one that defended waiting to see the most and I read most everything posted. Show me who said four. Then 5 as that would be two separate posters at least. Yes many said six would buy him a disgruntled fanbase and a fourth year.

Isn’t it a law in Mississippi that state employees can’t have a contract longer than the term of the governor? I’m pretty sure that college football coaches of state universities fall under that rule and thus cannot have a contract term longer than 4 years.

I just looked it up. Seems that he signed a contract with some private athletic association with ties to Ole Miss. I’m no legal expert, but if I were a rival AD, I’d file a lawsuit claiming they are subverting the state constitution just to annoy them.

 

If you are referring to post Miami game, yes. Preseason there were plenty of posters saying 25 no matter what.
