A New Way Forward - Kamala Harris for President: Official Campaign Website
Her team knew she had to put out something prior to the debate. Nothing like waiting until the last minute so people won't have much chance to analyze it.
She’s been talking about it for several weeks. Besides, it doesn’t matter what her proposals are, the GOP will be against them. The reverse is also true. That’s just politics, and no minds will be changed, including mine.
But by timing the official publication of her policies that way, she can be ready with canned responses to highly predictable questions while her opponent has to scramble to some degree. I guess it was politically smart. You're right about no mind being changed.
Trump couldn't have a published platform of his ideas? (even though he would know absolutely nothing about most of them). He could use this as a blueprint for his awesome policy thoughts, since it touches on so many different things; Trump was asked about his position on making child care affordable. His response: “Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down — you know, I was, uh, somebody, we had Sen. Marco Rubio [(R-Fla.)] and my daughter, Ivanka, was so, uh, impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that — because child care is child care. It’s, couldn’t — you know, it’s something, you have to have it. In this country, you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to but they’ll get used to it very quickly. And it’s not going to stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s gonna take care. We’re gonna have — I, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time. Coupled with, uh, the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country — because I have to say with child care, I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth. But growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, uh, that I just told you about. We’re gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care is talked about as being expensive, it’s, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in. We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people. But we’re gonna take care of our country first. This is about America first. It’s about: Make America great again. We have to do it, because right now we’re a failing nation. So we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question.”
I agree with you. I was surprised a few weeks ago when I went to her site and there was no platform. Seems like all she needed to do was tweak Bidens.
I’m sure they were focus grouping the shit out of ideas to get it just right before publishing anything on the internet.
The democratic platform was posted as approved days before the convention in August based on the early July or June committee approval including with language about what Biden will do - this is an edited and updated version. For someone who just got the nomination she has been very organized in her message, policy releases, and appearances - in my opinion.
Overall there are a lot to like but is that one about pathway to affordable education have loan forgiveness? And the bad actor one, who gets to decide who the bad actor is?
There's like zero policy there. That's called a wish list. Perhaps im being a bit harsh. More like a copule of bald face lies, plus a wish list.
I've been waiting for almost 9 years for a health care policy that someone promised. Why is it such a big deal that we need one from Harris first?
