Ok we have plenty of threads on Napier future and who should replace him. Yes I would love Kiffen and wish he was our coach now. But he is not and I really don’t want to have 11 more games of doom and gloom. Here is the thread for eternal optimists. We are at Hail Mary time.

Here is the plan for the next 6 games.
    1) turn over program to DJ Lagway and hope he completely changes offense
    2) fix the right side of o line with what we have.
    3) turn over play calling to callaway
    4) Napier just manages and stays out of play calling. Lend a hand to Ron Roberts
    5) Ron Roberts fixes defense.

let’s be 6-1 or 5-2 after 7 games. If not plan to fire Napier mid season. ok let’s root for a miracle Hail Mary.

It's something that seems far more likely than hiring and interim coach like a Meyer to finish the season. But if we want to prolong this... then that as good of a plan as any plan I've seen posted here.

If we're 5-2 after 7 games, that means we've got a couple good wins under our belt and Napier's seat is far less hot. 3-4 or worse after 7 and he donezo.

4-3 (with losses to aTm and @Tenn) is the interesting scenario to me where the fans won't be happy, but the admin can hope for a late season win or two like at FSU and claim progress. If you think Napier needs to go now, this is probably the worst-case scenario.

    Um....this is Robert's defense.
Executive head coach, co-defensive coordinator, linebackers coach.
He was brought in to coach up Armstrong. His fingerprints are on this defense.

That is the purgatory scenario. Stuck in mediocrity. Not bad enough to fire him, not good enough to believe in him.

You are too much of a realist to be on our thread. There are plenty of threads for people to be doom and gloom realism.
This thread is for the Hail Mary to work. He is our coach now and we cannot change that now. Let’s hope nape is smart enough to do items 1 and 2 for his only chance to save himself. Trust me I wish Kiffen was already the coach but I love Gator football and am rooting for the Hail Mary to happen. Let’s see.

My plan requires him to turn over play calling to Callaway. If he does not and he is not at least 5-2 after 7 games imo time to start the firing process. He is in 3rd year Elko in first year. If he can’t beat aTm at home he deserves to be fired.

The problem with this scenario is - Napier not giving up playcalling or footprint on playbook. They practiced this. They don’t just scrap it/ I mean, they COULD… but he’s a “stick to the plan, repeat the plan ,believe the same thing Wednesday as I did on Monday no matter what happened Tuesday” guy.
But if they were smart/ they let callaway call a spread offense with read options and simplify it for the oline and everyone else. Spread it out and give dj lanes to run and throw.
An idiot can see that’s how to do this

Might as well add to your list “Napier becomes someone he’s not and starts inspiring this team to victory.”

Is #4, like, the classified directive that we don’t get to learn till the end of the movie?

Or Kentucky. It’s gotten so old watching him lose games to that third-rate SEC school.

That scenario could get us to grudgingly accept Napier for another year but also buy time to find the next guy if we can’t land a great replacement in the next few months. We need a new splash hire before signing day or this class is going to be difficult to say the least.

If Napier does all things in his control
Turn it over to Lagway and callaway then I actually think there is a 5% chance
    Remember
    1) Lagway was top rated qb for a reason
    2) Ron Roberts did not suddenly wake up and can’t coach. I think we are probably not that far off to having a decent defense with the players we have. I am no football coach but I have a feeling he can fix defense by aTm game.
    3) 247 says we have the like 12th most talent and I believe it so just get nape and his playcalling out of equation
    4) out of 18 effing o lineman there has to be 5 that can block
5 percent chance I honestly think if nape turns over to Lagway and callaway.
remember this thread is for the positive vibes and optimists

Oh I am the OP and I agree if Napier not 5-2 after 7 games and does not finish at least like 8-4 then I say bring Kiffen in. but for now Nape is our coach and I am rooting for him to succeed. 8-4 or better is what we need out of Nape. If not pay him and bring in a real coach where 8-4 should always be our floor not ceiling
