He’s never going to either. He blew this chance by thinking he was smarter than he really was. He should’ve realized he needed an oc that understood big boy football but he still doesn’t realize he’s overmatched. He just thinks they need to practice more. He will never get another shot.
Thoughts. Bobby nailed it. Both starting DEs and OTs will not play in the NFL. Practically every top 20 team has those players. Time to play TJ and McCray. Pay for quality OTs. A year ago, I, along with many others, vehemently argued for an OC. Most posters on here eviscerated us. We were right; you were wrong. Two runs on third down in the first half was about as dumb as it gets.
People have been arguing for a real OC since his first season. It really seems like he has some sort of psychological trauma from being fired as a OC a long time ago that his number one goal is proving he is a capable play caller rather than trying to stack his vast resources and just be a successful CEO head coach. That's not enough for him. He wants to do it his way.
While I argued against that, (I thought the offense was "acceptable" last year, UF averaged 28 ppg) I was wrong. When it came to playing offense against the "big Boys", the offense skewed down against the better defenses.
Yep, he is proving as stubborn and hard headed as Mullen, with as much attachment to hiring and retaining his underperforming buds. Major difference is that Mullen at least had some game day skills.

The end of season rankings had our O two spots above our D. When both are above 115, you are really bad.
I found it interesting how Shane described throwing post patterns at "fixed" objects, like the right or left goal posts and how SOS had them (the QB and recievers) practice it again and again and again. Kind of like golfers do when they strike the ball toward certain fixed points on Golf Courses depending on their lie.
Though I agree with much you said, this last game was a huge regression. Missouri was a better defense last year than Miami this year, and we moved the ball on Missouri. This last game was experimenting with the OL when we had essentially the same personnel. Instead of fixing the known problem at RT, the coaches exacerbated the issues at RT against our rival. Problems that were less apparent last year became more apparent in this game.
Have you been able to down a brew in each tent in one afternoon (stretching into evening). I tried one time and only got through four before we were worried about catching the last train back to Garmish.
Well then, after he is let go some time this year, he can sit in his recliner and ponder why he had to succeed as a play caller when the team loses game after game.
Can we collectively agree to stop calling him a CEO? Unless of course you are referring to him being like a Bankman-Fried type.
He clearly isn't a CEO coach. There was at one time the thought that's what he should be but it's too late and never happening now.
