You can just smell the desperation. Pretty soon he will be announcing he supports reparations and is voting for Kamala.

Did you care about Kamala's flip flops? Do you not want legalization? More people thinking like you is a good thing no?

Or maybe if Trump thinks its ok and he is scum, you are scum for believing in something he advocates for now?

    Im truly curious.

With that said... Legalize it already!

Trump’s positions don’t matter. He is running on being entertaining and creating anger. It’s a unique strategy that should be laughed at.. but yet it is working over on the right.

I don’t know. I think the amendment will probably get the 60% needed, but we will see if DeSantis, Moody, the Chamber, et al, make a stronger push against it as the election nears. If Trump supports it and his position moves even a few percent of his supporters, not implausible to me it could wind up mattering.

What a liberal. TCH has been mainstream with the right and many Christians for a long time.

Florida Young Republicans Endorse Amendment 3 in Latest Blow to DeSantis

TALLAHASSEE, FL—The Florida Young Republicans broke ranks with Gov. Ron DeSantis Tuesday morning by throwing their support behind a recreational marijuana amendment backed by Democrats and former President Donald Trump ahead of the ABC Presidential Debate.

"As champions of individual freedom, supporting Amendment 3 is the obvious choice for Florida Young Republicans. We're ready to move past the outdated stigma surrounding marijuana consumption and give Floridians the same freedom to consume marijuana that more than half the country already enjoys," Megan Echtenkamp, Communications Director for the Florida Young Republicans, said in a statement.

    ****

Since then, DeSantis has spearheaded the charge against Amendment 3—claiming it would make the state "stink", grant "civil immunity" to the Amendment's main benefactor, Trulieve, and would create an overall "corporate weed cartel" if passed by 60 percent of voters in November. This was one of the main chunks of the Governor's speech at the party's "Victory Dinner" fundraiser over the weekend in Hollywood.

However, the tide appears to be turning against him as more Republicans side with Democrats, beginning with Trump ally Sen. Gruters last month. Gruters, a former GOP Chair, was bashed online by the Governor's communications team, who accused the Senator of taking dark weed money to stand against the party.

What’s really noteworthy is how Trump is stepping all over DeSantis with this and the abortion amendment.

Not surprising. Trump would step on anyone necessary to get what he wants.

He sure has turned on his pandering to hyper-drive. I’m waiting for him to promise a free VW to every household in the debate tonight.

Also noteworthy to me that team DeSantis is attacking others but appears to be giving Trump a pass. Perhaps DeSantis believes Trump's position is sincere and therefore beyond reproach.

DeSantis Team Accuses Trump Ally of Taking Big Pot Money—While Ignoring Trump's Endorsement of Pot Amendment”

"It’s a shame that someone like [Sen. Joe Gruters] would support an amendment that has virtually no checks on where and how marijuana can be consumed—putting kids at risk," DeSantis' Chief of Staff, James Uthmeier, wrote on X. "Someone should check who has given him political $ and then see who is backing this amendment. Hmmm…"

Sen. Gruters, a Trump-allied state Senator, announced his support last month of a ballot initiative legalizing recreational marijuana for adults—Amendment 3—to mild discontent from state Republican leaders. It wasn't until Saturday morning when Trump signaled his support of the measure that DeSantis' team came out in full force against Gruters, the former GOP Chair, as they accused him of taking money from the marijuana company backing the amendment: Trulieve.

Of note, none mentioned that Trump was also supporting the amendment.

"How much has Joe Gruters, who is preparing to run for a statewide office, taken from one large marijuana corporation that has funded over $70M towards this effort? It begs the question… What’s in it for them?" Jeremy Redfern, DeSantis' press secretary, posited online.

Trump is not ideological at all - except for a couple of themes relating to nativism (immigration, tariffs, some issues on race). To him it is all about what is best for him personally. If supporting far right policy is no longer politically expedient then he reverses course.

That would normally be somewhat of a plus, but he is so narcissistic actual issues don’t matter at all. It’s all about fealty to him and accepting batshit crazy conspiracies that benefit him personally.

He is ideological (like he's always been deeply reactionary on crime and immigration), he just has better political instincts than anyone who had to come up in evangelical-tinged Republican politics where you had to be against fun, whether it be sex or recreational drug use. He spent his formative years going on Howard Stern, not inhaling "teach abstinence in school" discourse at a Young Republicans meeting.

Support the legalization but they should allow for a plant or two for a person's personal growing. Not require everyone go pay the multi billion dollar corporation for a blunt.
