I mean sure if you just assume he goes 10-4 then we'd all take that. The question is how likely is it that he actually would?
Exceedingly unlikely. It's more a general state of program and what I think is the appropriate type of hire based on those circumstances. Also, I specifically limited to coaches in situations that I would classify as a lower ceiling than UF. As noted Washington included in that list is questionable.
Brent Key...... I saw this title and first thought it was another one of @akaGatorhoops fishing spots.
Everyone would hate Billy if he was competing for titles. But I do like Kiffin. I hated the hire 5-7 years ago, but seems like he's finally got his head screwed on right.
I like Fisch a lot. I don't like he hired Belichek's kid to be his DC without him ever proving himself. Fisch with a legit DC at UF? That could work.
Not saying we should hire Brent Key, but he’s won 5 games at Tech already vs double digit favorites, while our guy struggles to beat the teams he’s supposed to beat. And we haven’t won a game of any sort since the first full weekend of October 2023.
People like Billy for the same reason everyone loved Ray Goff. They don’t win. Actually, Goff won a lot more at UGa than Billy has at UF.
Napier 2.0 maybe better messaging but I do NOT want another “tough minded, disciplined, attention to detail” dudes with no scheme or energy.
It’ll be 10 mil for Cookie Monster. Big contract coming up or resign to being Miss st or even Vandy. 6 mil is for chumps.
FNS it is Jedd Fisch. Now that he's been mentioned it is good. Here is what he did at Arizona, a basketball school. He had a mess to clean up after Kevin Sumlin was let go. He went 1-11 first year. Year two he was 7-5, with a win over in state rival ASU. He went 10-3 year three. that includes another win over ASU plus a double-digit bowl win over Oklahoma. He has a massive rebuild at UW. Only 2 starters return. All really good coaches show improvement from year 1 to year 2. Fisch met those criteria. That he is a UF grad only helps. He doesn't have the baggage that Kiffin has. I like him.
I'd warm up to it if he has a good year at Washington. 7 wins would be a pretty good season with UW's level of talent.
