The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the hostages had been held for nearly 11 months. “According to our initial assessment, they were brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists shortly before we reached them," IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.

Mentioned it months ago. Although they obviously never explicitly stated it, Benjamin Netanyahu and his far right coalition cabinet considered the hostages expendable. They had the opportunity to negotiate a ceasefire with Hamas that would resulted in the release of the hostages and never did so. I'm not defending Hamas they're a terrorist organization and once again demonstrated that they are barbarous murderers. By the ETGator1 I'm not sure how you can blame Harris considering that the hostages were murdered when the IDF was attempting a very risk rescue. Freeing hostages held in a tunnel was an extremely high risk operation with a relatively low probability of success. By the way maybe the tragedy will hasten the end of the Netanyahu government once and for all.
