First drive, 3rd & 5, o-line cannot block at all.

 

That already happened prior to this season. When both your highest PFF rated offensive & defensive players leave for better teams within your own conference. It should’ve been a big ruh-roh moment that was instead passed off by many as just a couple of disgruntled employees bolting, nothing really to see here.

 

If the $ is there he can basically take his Ole Miss team to Florida

 

A running play and every single UM down lineman has some level of penetration and there is not a soul left to block the LB's. No wonder this play was blown up.

 

3rd & 10 end of 1st, #8 is open. Medium receiver is double-teamed & outside defender looking inside, flat-footed. Mertz waits too long. Safety couldn't get there on the throw Mertz eventually did make so he wouldn't have made it in time if thrown earlier. Same stuff we saw last year.

 

Am I the only person checking in routinely to see if the ax has fallen?

 

No. It will determine whether my late Sunday afternoon drinking will be celebratory or sorrow, again.

 

1st & 10, 2nd Qtr. UM defensive end & linebacker go for the end round. We have 5 blocking 3 at the top, guard getting beat at the bottom but the back is quick enough to make this meaningless. UM linebacker inexplicably fails to fill the hole & we get a good gain, despite our own fails.

 

1st & 10, 2nd Qtr. Mertz fails to step up in the pocket & instead throws under pressure. Same as we saw last year. #1 & #6 are both left with on-on-one coverage, perhaps either could've broken open with a little more time.

 

wish it were beach volleyball, then i'd watch

 

4th & 5, 2 Qtr. Again Mertz fails to step up into the pocket, is nearly sacked, scrambles & almost throws int.

 

i'm sure there someone hiding behind the bushes at GNV

 

I could keep posting these highlights, but it seem evident we don't have good players on the o-line or at QB. Looks just like last year.

 

I think this is our biggest issue at the moment. Our offense is very predictable and it bogs everything down. Billy appears to be a solid run play designer but we really need to open the offense up. What is the point of getting all this speed at WR if we can’t take shots and don’t get them the ball in space. I would love to see us use Tre the way UM used Restrepo.

 

He didn’t even want that when it was his to have.

Anyone following Flight Tracker for the UF planes?

 

We definitely like sideways and slow development in the passing game vs the SOS quick reads and timing patterns

 

Maybe they figured it out unlike some team(s).
