I spoke up for BN this spring and summer and asked the negative posters to be patient. I felt many deserved to know the change in my thinking. I hate to see us go through another coach, but I hate more to see us tolerate a hbc who is not the guy!!! The three coaches before BN were let go and for good reason. BN thought this team was ready to play UM? That's not good enough!!!
1A Meyer Kiffin 1B Fisch Not sure if Meyer wants it and not sure our high academic ranking with limited $$ school can afford the other two 2A Leipold Drinkwicz Absolutely worst case we get Chadwell. He’s far more proven than Napier ever was. He’s won at multiple schools over more years in legit no fluke ways. We know Napier is a dud. Any additional years is a waste. At this point hiring someone who sucks is no different than keeping Napier. It’s all upside
Kiffen is 1a and you back up the brinks and give him anything he wants. You put aside any of your feelings about him. You put aside your designs on being Stanford of the south and you admit- college football is going semi pro and if you wanna play in the SEC you play big boy football and get in the mud. And if you wanna coach at Florida- you take advantage of speed, talent, athleticism and swag that is all over the south and historically this program. You get a guy that wants to hang half a hundred and play modern fn football. You push all your chips in for football and then work out the kinks on academics, money etc later after you’re bringing in billions winning titles But alas, those “if Applebees was a person” button downs over there aren’t doing that. They are disconnected from anything that makes a successful program. And I think Billy knew that and tried to get us closer off the field… problem is- he CANNOT coach offense. And he has low energy so he is not communicating a message that’s getting through, getting his teams fired up… he brings NOTHING to the field on Saturdays So the narrative will be “why can’t a coach succeed at Florida?” We will get blamed for being impatient. We will get vilified for thinking we are something we aren’t. And at this point that may be right. We just may be Kentucky now… hell, I’d take 7 wins. so Napier will lean on “Lagway and LJ and the future” and SS will keep him another year.
Only the Gators hire G5 coaches with weak resumes lol Chadwell needed the second gig to build up the resume. He is moving on this year or next. He also has a really good gig with legit playoff potential. So he’s not going to take a mid P5 at this point
How dare you! Ron Zook is the Special Teams Quality Control Coach at the University of Maryland. Which, while it probably does not pay as well as a full time janitorial position, does give him plenty of free time to enjoy winters on the Mall in DC.
People do not realize how much elite football brings in in terms of $$$, reputation, and so much free advertising. Stanford and Cal are good examples. Does anyone give a shit about them outside of SF area and Asia? Nobody outside of current/future students gives a crap they have good academics
Yup.... A good coach could beat theirs with ours, and ours with theirs. Our players are not the problem.
The sad thing about all this is that a close game might have saved Napier this complete humiliation... now everyone is questioning everything about him... and his process too. It's a sad way to fall that far in such a short time.
How much has Zook made this centry? I'm guessin' in and around $40M. So, I'm thinking he doesn't winter on the mall in DC.
Does the complaining make what could shape up to be a terrible season any easier to watch? Sometimes silence is golden (no reference to or hoops coach intended). Nature will take it's course. Whos idea was it to schedule what could likely be a ranked team to kick off the season anyway?
After the Jacksonville debacle, no parent wants their kid playing for Urban. He is done and his wife probably would leave him. Lane should be the target and you throw everything at him to get him. We would instantly win 8 games.
But at least this way there's going to be a faster, hopefully cleaner end to this. Now everyone knows this thing has an expiration date this fall and UF can start making moves for the future.
