BN won't make it to mid season. I would love a few wins to prove me wrong. Perhaps DJ steps up. But if not, then maybe there's a diamond in the rough among the assistant coaches. Someone players and the other coaches respect. Appoint an interim HC. Shake things up. Who knows. GT was in miserable shape two seasons ago. They fired Geoff Collins early in the season. Hired one of their assistants as interim coach. His name? Brent Key. You'll likely be hearing his name more often. Key immediately changed the trajectory of GT football to finish off the '22 season. Improved to 7-6 last season and a bowl win. Now making big moves on the recruiting trail for '25. Started off this season with a win over FSU in Dublin. Still early in 2024 so who knows where he takes them. But there's no need to suffer through another long season of wait till next year. Clearly, BN is not up to the task; Miami may turn out to be better than advertised but you don't need another game to figure the course UF is tracking. Time to move on, the sooner the better before the damage is irreparable.
This goes beyond the playbook, we need someone who can completely reset program and culture. What we’ve had for the last 3 years is smoke and mirrors, with a coach hiding behind the moving parts
And Randy Shannon telling the press that his HS buddy got killed up in Gainesville when he was a player here, a complete fabrication.
He built the foundation of what the Florida program was (sadly no more). He made mistakes for that era, but put the university on the course for what did happen in the 1990's and 2000's. His biggest mistake was thinking that doing things that happened on a daily basis at Alabama under Bryant would not be a big deal at UF.
f$u fired Willie Taggart during only his 2nd season in Tally. He coached just 21 games at Florida State. He went 9-12 overall and 0-5 against rivals Miami, Clemson and Florida. He received a $18mil parting gift. Billy is 26 games in now with similar records and a marginally higher buyout.
Is Dabo a more realistic get than Kiffin? I know he got blown out by Georgia but he knows how to recruit Florida and his teams play with intensity. Our current team does not.
No, mostly because Dabo isn't leaving Clemson just now. Pride will not let him walk away and his record is going to keep him from getting fired for at least another year or longer. (Not to imply that Kiffin is more realistic - he isn't. Neither are realistic.)
