Plus, the portal and NIL changed the game in a way that required strengths in areas where he already had some huge weaknesses. I think if he had come after Muschamp, he may have had more success, but the 24/7 nature of recruiting, plus having to re-recruit your own team each year as well, would have eventually led to the same end.
