This is a really crazy article. Trumpy disinformation spreaders are essentially creating huge amounts of fake accounts, but using real people, to perpetrate fake support for Trump.

A new low in the use of disinformation in politics. But not surprising.

If you dare object or call out the BS they play the victim card and cry " CENSORSHIP!"

It would seem that trump's campaign learned some techniques from the 2016 election their overseas friends used to assist him.

what makes you think their overseas friends aren't behind this?

it will be interesting to see how the EU responds. They are already unhappy with musk allowing such misinformation to prosper under his ownership

They won't be up for it - it's one of their golden principles.
I'm all in favour of free speech, but we need to have a grown up debate in society about where that line of consequence is and hold people accountable.
"True" freedom of speech is a noble idea but none of us are free of the consequence of those words - if I go and accuse someone of heinous behaviour which isn't true, they can - quite rightly - defend themself using the rule of law.
The crossover into politics has yet to be resolved. All parties do it to some degree - when exaggeration for political gain becomes pure disinformation. It's a (sad) race to the bottom for everyone.

This is why I can't stand the name calling. It lowers the expected standards of officials in office. When I was a teacher, there was a strictly enforced set of standards pertaining to my job. If I crossed the line, I was fired and prevented from working in that arena.

The same should apply to Prime Ministers, Presidential Candidates etc ...

Disinformation is almost the byproduct. The real goal here just like 2020 is to create the fiction that Trump has the groundswell of support and not Harris. It's another pretext for the J6 sequel.

Musk said it would be easy to clean up the bots and inauthentic behavior, so he fired the “trust and safety” team.

    Oops.

This isn’t even new, weren’t they caught using stock images before - and creating a bunch of fake profiles?

Also reminds of this story from a few years ago. In this case it was a fictional profile pretending to have extreme liberal views, but they stole the image of a real person. Similar to this latest example, the fake account became viral enough that the real person found out about it.

Twitter suspends viral ‘Erica Marsh’ account after people question whether it is a fake

I thought they id’d who was actually behind that one but I can’t seem to find it?

I wouldn’t assume state actor or dismiss that it’s someone in the Trump campaign. For example: Steve Bannon was using inauthentic activities as part of his “Stop the Steal” nonsense. Whoever it was maybe they thought they’d be safe from discovery by using European’s (instead of Americans) as source material? Probably just the tip of the iceberg imo.

All the poor beta incels thinking “hey - maybe I will get laid by a perfect 10 after all!” will be shattered to find out the trump supporting super models retweeting their nonsense are actually fat balding 50 year old Russian men wearing adidas track suits.

    This.

Dunno if there's a causality, but ever since that scumbag took over, every (rare) moment I post something on Twitter.....I get a like or follow by some hot little naughty looking young lady in a bikini or lingerie.

I'm married, so I don't really seek that kind of thing out. But it's just totally weird, like they're just checking out whether I might DM them and eventually send all my money to their friend in Nigeria or Moscow. Starting to see the same photos recycled too.

Just weird stuff. The Musky Trumputin Disinformationverse.
