When I was a kid my grandmother had an old windup Victrola Phonograph. US kids used to love to sit in the parlor of her old house and listen to the WWI era records. My favorite entertainer of the time was Billy Murray. So today I did a search for Billy Murray on YouTube and discovered this gem along with several others we listened to on grandma's old Phonograph. Kind of makes me think MAGA was around in 1906.
Some of their ideas certainly have been. Like stirring up an angry rabble of rubes by using dishonest and racist tropes and lies about immigrants.
MAGA has definitely been around for over 100 years. Their 1926 march on Washington coming immediately to mind. Klan members and leadership disliked Wall Street and big business in general, and chain stores in particular. Said national Klan leader Hiram Evans, “Increasing economic inequalities threaten the very stability of society.” The rise of industrialism and consumerism presented bewildering changes that the Klan blamed on stereotyped Jewish bankers on Wall Street.
