How is possible to finish 6-6? Are we Crims now and only decide a bowl game “counts” if it fits our narrative?
Partially agree. We have already been crawling for years. It’s time to stand up and walk this season.
I’m not really concerned with the bowl as you never know who ya play and if either team cares anymore unless it’s a playoff game. Winning bowls over teams that sit their players is basically a scrimmage anymore.
Sorry you feel that way. Really, really sorry that our team has been coached to feel that way for the last few years. Bowl games matter. And this team needs to start treating them like they matter.
If the other team sits their best players, it’s kind of hollow. Oklahoma killed us when all our talent sat but they didn’t beat our regular season team. I’m hoping for playoffs and guys caring about winning. I always want the gators to win but if the players don’t care, how can I get interested.
This is a lot better team than most think. We got good players from the portal probley 6-8 start for us..DBs much better, WRs and RB deeper. OL and DL better, like the new coaches. Have a top 3 QB in SEC. I see 9 wins at worst.
I think we go either 5-7 or 6-6. 247Sports says we have the 12th best roster talent in D1, yet we're picked to finish only 12th in the SEC. How is that? Coaching and player development, IMO. If we surprise people and go 7-5 or even 8-4, that would be awesome. But that's what Gator football has come to. Being ecstatic over losing ONLY 4 or 5 games! Amazing.
Well, we agree that the players have not cared. We might disagree on how much that should be laid at the doorsteps of the coaches, whose job it is to make them care.
8-4 in the regular season and a meaningless bowl loss for 8-5. Losses to UGA, TN, TX, and Ole Miss. Hoping to sweep the state with wins over UCF, Miami, and fsu. Napier keeps his job and the Lagway era begins. Next year, we sneak into the playoffs.
I agree, but I also agree that if I was Anthony Richardson, I’m sitting dead on my ass and getting my $27 million guaranteed over playing in a second rate bowl game
Well, if you're calling me a loser, I might remind you that I didn't play a snap in those games. Yeah, the teams and players have given up on non-playoff bowl games. So, I should care about them? Like it or not, they have become mostly insignificant.
I'd rather not even play those games. Look at the disparity in the records in each of those games. Now add in the opt outs. This program has taken a beating from scheduling and bowl matchups on top of our own undoing from coaching hires and a UAA that arrogantly ignored the changing landscape of college football.
And my guess is, the difference is leadership. One team had coaches who emphasized that winning matters, and the other didn’t. The sheer number of “opt-outs” is a function of leadership as well.
And we're not the same team FSU plays at the end of the year - the possibility of growth cuts both ways.
