The Gators rank #12 in this 24/7 metric. That means we have talent on the Gators' football team, and the Gators have a very good collection of talent on the 2024 team. So, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that these Vegas sites and other prognosticators don't think we have the coaching to make this talented team a winning team.

We will all soon see if Napier got the right position coaches to change that predicted trajectory.

I've said this too many times to count. It's not the talent on our team alone that has been the reason for our failure in the wins' column, but it's the position coaches that our CEO, coach Napier, hires... showing these players how to realize their full potential by winning like they should. It's been a coaching failure, yes, but it's not all on Napier. He got who he could get at the time of need, and he's still upgrading his coaching staff.

I like the talent that Napier finds in the portal and in high school/JuCo level, and this year is his best team yet, with upgraded position coaches everywhere on the defense. Now let's see how this group of coaches fair.

247Sports Team Talent Composite has been released for the 2024-2025 season. It examines and ranks every FBS team based on how their players ranked in high school. The ranking accounts for transfers, dismissals, and other departures or additions to the rosters. Any transfer additions added to a schools Team Talent Composite will account for what their ranking was out of high school, and not their 247Sports Transfer rating.

To make it simple, the Team Talent Composite ranks the star power of each roster.

The Florida Gators are ranked No. 12 on the 2024 Team Talent Composite. Florida has four teams on the schedule ranked higher on the Team Talent Composite – the Georgia Bulldogs at No. 2, Texas Longhorns at No. 4, Texas A&M Aggies at No. 7, and LSU Tigers at No. 9. The Southeastern Conference has three of the nation's top five most talented rosters. The Alabama Crimson Tide hold the No. 1 ranking on 247Sports' Team Talent Composite.

Plenty of talent. Maybe that's why SOS says 9 wins.

Look at the talent on the teams we play. That's 11 teams we play that are the top 34 most talented teams in the country.

Lsu and Ole Miss Def last year were worst then ours. They just had a very good Off. They have to improve on Def for me to believe the pre-season rankings they have.

No doubt, and Texas' defensive line is supposed to be their weakest link... So, many teams have spots of concern, which is great if we know how to exploit it.

I think being depth shy at very critical positions is as or more critical to our results so far as coaching. Hopefully, the new coaches are a major upgrade and match the talent level. Twelfth in talent with better coaching could get us at least the 12th seed in the playoffs. Don't know many on here , other than the nattering nabobs of negativity, who wouldn't be happy with that.

Click on the link, select Florida and sort list by ranking…

That’ll tell a more accurate story.

Without looking at the list and the report of talent, I can probably guess where the issue was with Florida last year.

It's with a first year quarterback trying to learn the system and it's with *very* young talent. It makes a huge difference and it is why Billy is getting at least another year.

    As he should.

Any talk about eight or nine wins is really premature, but if we're lucky, and we'll have to be lucky, we can get there.

Next year is more likely, however.

NCAA is ranked on ypg the other on scoring D. Even if you look at the NCAA's scoring defense stats, the data is still very slightly different, which is odd. Personally, I believe the scoring D is the better rating statistic.

Next year we'll be breaking in another first year QB with the same schedule which I assume will be considered tough again.

Crusher, incorrect. We won't be breaking in a QB new to the system. I don't know why people insist on being dense about this. We'll be transitioning to a quarterback in his *second* year in the system just like Graham Mertz is this year.

Experience in the offensive system is crucial.

Being in your second year with the majority of the team is crucial.

Being a phenom -- Grahan Mertz is good but no phenom -- is crucial.

Anyway . . . support the team. It is imperative we break the cycle we've fallen into. I thought Mullen would do that but he failed miserably.

Napier isn't failing us and we shouldn't fail him and this competent "Army" he has assembled.

At least this year if Mertz gets hurt, heaven forbid, we have DJ behind him. But next season, if something happens to DJ, we could be in a bind. I know, too soon to worry about next season.

    Odd.
