The status quo is the Palestinians launch a terror attack. Israel responds with bombs. This creates future terrorists among the Palestinian population who eventually launch a terror attack on Israel. You can bomb your way to peace. Especially with a population that isn't interested in a peaceful solution. You audio can't install a puppet government and expect long term peace. Peace has to be desired from within. Palestinians had plenty of chances for peace. They missed them all. The continuation of Israeli bombs only ensures more of the same, generational fighting while Palestinian citizens suffer and die. Agree to a ceasefire and most likely that's just giving Hamas time to reload. But they are doing that anyway. Continue fighting and there's no end. I say it's better to give peace a chance, even if it's unlikely to stick. .1% chance > 0%.
Who is apologizing for Hamas? They are a terrorist organization responsive for killing thousands of innocent Israelis. But at this point, Israel's bombs are only accomplishing a continuation of the same Israel/Palestinian conflict that's been going on for generations. As the saying goes, if you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to keep getting what you're getting.

The point is leaders don't always represent 100% of their country. Especially in democracies. To think Israel is a monolithic block all wanting to continue the war against Hamas would be a mistake. Plenty of Israelis not happy with Netanyahu and would replace him tomorrow if they could. And come November, half the US won't be c happy with the election results.

Mystikal rapped about raping a girl and was convicted for it. There are plenty of examples. The point is, this is low hanging fruit and you have to extend reality to make people believe he's going around just grabbing girls vaginas. So you can’t kill terrorists if non combatants are killed, even if the terrorists hide among the non combatants? I’m just trying to figure out the rules. Everybody seems to be an expert on the rules and norms of war for Israel, (which BTW seems to be different that everybody else in history and on the planet), so I am just trying to figure out what these rules are.

As you know, besides the Geneva Convention, there are is no fixed rulebook. It's more a general code of morality. And many people would say that killing 30-40,000 civilians -a majority probably being women and children- while displacing between 1.5 and 2 million civilians, and causing a famine that could impact as many.....is probably a disproportionate response to a terror attack that killed 1200, and also stretched the bounds of morality in order to kill between 10,000 and 20,000 (presumed but not confirmed) terrorists. To say nothing of the fact that the strategy is probably counterproductive in the long-term. But this is just a talk forum, for opinions. You're as entitled to yours as anyone. In your opinion, killing, displacing and starving that many civilians may fit well within the bounds of your moral code. Not mine, but you are obviously free to go with yours.
