I hope they have fixed the management of special teams.

Wasn't there a penalty called on us last year, where we had two players with the same number on the field at the same time?

I was looking at the new roster and still seeing some opportunity for chaos. We have a lot of players with low duplicate numbers who could be potentially on the field at the same time. I wonder why we continue to give defensive linemen numbers under 30 while some higher numbers are either unassigned or presently assigned to a non-scholarship player who I doubt will hit the field this year.

perhaps I am old school, but we don't have a single player assigned to #51, worn by perhaps the best linebacker in NFL history. Dick Butkus

We have 2 special teams coaches who can now be on the field and manage directly. So should be ok along with 2 great kickers and a lot of returners competing with speed and experience and hopefully at least a portion of Brandon James type courage.

Just hope we don't see both Wilson and Marshall on kick returns

Probably not but I'm a fan of getting the ball in the best player's hands.

That’s because we prefer to assign that number to two players at the same time.

This is true, but it was assigned to one of the all time great Gator linebackers, Brandon Spikes.

Isn't Tank Hawkins officially the fastest player on the team now, and how much does he figure into the return game to start the season? Is it 8/31 yet?

Special teams still had XP with only 10 on the field in the spring game.

    Hope they are practicing :D

Hawkins isn’t just fast he is shifty
I (hope/expect) he will see time returning kicks.

10.3 in the 100... yeah, fastest. But I didn't know he was shifty too. Thanks for that tidbit.

The shifty part is what gets them into open field. Running fast in a straight line doesn’t do shit.

However, he is 4 mph behind the fastest athlete from Gainesville. Now that is crazy, because Tank is blazing fast.
