I mean, when your campaign is slowly sliding down a cliff, you'd think any opportunity to regain your footing would be viewed favorable. But if JD Vance has any honest people in his inner circle, you'd think they would be telling him that Walz comes off as a genuine and likable person, and he comes off like an angry turd weasel, so a debate isn't a good idea. And even Trump couldn't say that JD Vance was ready to be president when asked at the Black Journalist Convention ... he said "The Vice President doesn't matter". The Oct 1st debate, if JD doesn't go AWOL, will make it clear that Walz was picked for his executive and legislative experience and down to earth personality ... and JD was picked because he'd be willing to break the law and constitution if Trump asked him. JD Vance Casts Doubt On 'Garbage' Debate With Tim Walz (msn.com) Donald Trump's running mate has refused to confirm that he will participate in an October 1 debate against his Democratic counterpart, saying that he would only do so if it was guaranteed not to be a "fake debate." "We're not going to run and walk into a fake news media garbage debate," JD Vance said in a Thursday morning interview with Fox News's Laura Ingraham.
Because he knows his ideas suck and that Walz would dismantle him, his ridiculous attacks on his service and the fact that he completely flip flopped on his views of Trump just to get into power. The guy is a complete bum and easily the worst VP nominee of my lifetime. Very rarely does the VP selection make much of a difference, but it definitely is in this one, on both sides.
Last week, I listened to an interview with one of Vance's close law school friends, who described him as having been smart, curious, open-minded, and caring. It's one thing to have a change in policy positions; that's politics. But the friend said Vance underwent a very dramatic and recent change in his temperament and the way he talks about people. I have wondered....was one version the real Vance? Was he acting before or acting now? Or did something happen to him personally to cause such an abrupt shift? I think there's a chance that Vance's true nature is closer to the older version of him and that he has felt the need to act this way to get attention and move up the ladder. If that's true, one reason voters may be turned off by him is an intuition that he is simply not authentic. Despite Trump's faults (and dishonesty is one of them), I do think Trump is viewed as "authentic," which is different than being viewed as honest. For better or worse, Trump knows who he is.
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/15/vance-walz-debate-00174160 Ohio Sen. JD Vance agreed to debate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Oct. 1 on CBS, locking in at least one matchup between the Republican and Democratic nominees for vice president.
My guess is that he does not want to have to explain this on national TV: Photo: JD Vance In Drag at Beer Pong Party—Unlike His Friend
I actually think it would be the highest rated VP debate in history. Not that it is a major record. More people watched my son's last piano recital than the last VP debate.
Good, looks like he changed his mind since yesterday ... yet another position he's flip-flipped on. Walz is going to eat him alive.
I assumed this was a party with everybody wearing costumes. Personally, it's fine with me if he just felt more comfortable playing beer pong while in drag.
Its a little scary we are getting into the era where any candidate is going to have digital cell phone pics from college-age parties
There's always that one guy at a costume party that refuses to dress up, so maybe that is the one guy
I heard the interview too, if I recall it was on NPR. My guess is that Vance changed his positions for political expedience although even if that's the case it doesn't say much for his moral compass. I suspect that his transformation goes back to the beginning of his relationship when he in effect sold his soul to the tech billionaire for money.
Rumors that Walz is withdrawing from the race because he’s afraid of going into battleground states … Bah-dah-bing!
