The intro was released and it is of course, horrible. I know, we are all shocked. To cleanse the ears - here is the old CBS SEC intro that is basically the song of my child hood Never forget what they’ve taken from us! edit- I didn’t know it copied the luke combs/tom petty video, I actually like that one. But the CBS one is just a classic
A lot of people think country Petty is cool but it feels like Petty appropriation in a fake way like everything else country these days.
This will always be one of my favorites. I was on the USS Tennessee at the time. My crew and CO were at the game for the coin toss. They were all UT fans.
As long as the games are televised, I don’t really care what channel they’re on. I’ve never had more access to Gator sports than I’ve had since the big deal with ESPN was struck.
I don't care at all who carries half the games; 'cuz I'll be in the Swamp listening to 90,000 of my closest friends...
I’m sure they will have a theme intro like CBS, just not sure it will be as iconic. I’m surprised y’all are balking at Luke Combs covering Tom Petty for their “Are you ready from some football…” as at least it’s a tribute to a Gainesville legend.
How can you not like a Tom Petty song? That's Gainesville sacrilege, right there. Who cares if its sung by Luke Combs (its a tribute album, btw). I think you may be comparing apples and oranges. The ABC video just looks like a hype trailer for the upcoming season, not intro music for the game itself. I guess we'll see Aug 31.
I thought the ABC intros were quite good except for the crappy music remakes, but for college football, CBS nailed it years ago with the music intro that emulated a college marching band.
I assume CBS will keep using the theme for their B1G games. So kids will just associate that song with the B1G from now on. It's not right, but that's the deal the SEC made.
What a great game, I was there. God I miss those days. The Urban years were great, but I don’t think there will ever be excitement like the SOS years.
So, go with multiple-Grammy-winning original over the fake-ass New-Country loser. But I get it, gotta please the Gomer Bama and UGa fans.
Spurrier's reign was Transcendent and transformational. The fact he was a Heisman winner at UF amplifies everything.
I am shocked and saddened - Looky here Gators, there is only one, and one only College football "Intro Music Tune" for every Network, Streamer, Cable or anything else that covers College Football ...... and I don;t give a "DAYUMN" what anyone says or thinks about it: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...78AJegQIExAB&usg=AOvVaw18RF3VoWMkOl58fhmqLIa3 Late 70's early 80's walking past Hume to the Student Section, Dorm Room windows open, this is blasting. FIRED US UP!
I get it but it's not about pleasing whatever gomers are but moreso that you and I are old. I'm a couple years from 40, nobody markets to me except insurance grifters and home depot. The quicker you realize this and start enjoying (or hating) the product behind the marketing you'll be happier and you transition to senior citizen will be almost complete. Sorry if you're not also old but since you're posting on a forum I'm comfortable in my assumption.
