one person in this thread knows who and what was said. I will leave it up to them and a mod to post. Princess
Honestly, yeah, I’d be amazed. It’s politics!!! We may disagree on political ideology, but I suspect there’s a hulluva lot more we agree upon than disagree. Sometimes we just need to take a deep breath. I know I get in lots of arguments with people here. And while I’ve received lots of bacon and negative ratings from those who disagree with me, I’ve never received a nasty PM (although if I did, I’d probably just ignore it anyway). Butthe few PMs I’ve received were incredibly gracious and kind.
That sucks people have to PM. I never PM unless I get PMed. I keep it in the forums. Look, we don't have to agree on anything, but at least be civil with disagreements.
Yeah!! That’s exactly what I was saying. Sending a faceless person a private nastygram because they disagree?!? That’s pathetic, in my book.
Doesn’t seem like a good inflation reduction policy — seems to put more money into the economy. If there is no tax on tips, then there is no deduction for the business expenses of said tip — it’s a gift. How does a business buying a meal get a deduction for its 100% deductible or 50% deductible associated with a gift? Only non-cash $25 is allowed. How can a business make a gift to a non-employee over the fed limit — gonna fill out a 1099-NEC?
Cackling Kamala cast the tie breaking vote that allowed passage of the Act that included $80 billion for new IRS employees. You would have thought the IRS would be going after the big tax cheats, but I guess those folks are democrats or folks who can afford to defend themselves: VP Kamala Harris Cast Tie-Breaking Vote to Let IRS Track Workers' Tips so They Can Be Taxed (breitbart.com) Unbelievable that Harris is now for exempting the very tips that have been targeted by the IRS with her having made the tie breaking vote for the Act passage: Vice President Kamala Harris — who on Saturday copied a campaign promise first announced by former President Donald Trump to eliminate taxes on tips — voted in 2022 to pass legislation that allowed the IRS to track down workers’ tips so that they could be taxed. On August 7, 2022, Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act that provided $80 billion in additional funding to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which then got to work cracking down on the service industry’s reporting of tips so that they could be taxed. In February 2023, the IRS released a proposed revenue procedure known as the Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (SITCA) program. “They told us they’re not going to be coming after people earning $400,000 or less,” Palicz added. “Well, here’s a new IRS rule that’s focused on bringing in tips from waitresses.” Palicz also took to X to express his dismay, writing, “Those 87,000 new IRS agents that you were promised would only target the rich… They’re coming after waitresses’ tips now.” I mentioned yesterday in post #58 about Waffle House changing how they handle tips. I don't know anyone in the top of Waffle House management, do have a sister-in-law who has worked there for years who told me about the new Waffle House tip handling rules, but it appears likely the changes that came about at Waffle House have been made as a result of the passage of this ACT and the IRS targeting low paid employees' tips.
I wonder if there is anything like this going from a conservative or pro-Trump poster to a female lib/progressive via PM.
While she did cast the deciding vote, the tracking of tips was a single provision in a large and complex bill. Given that the source was Breitbart why am I not surprised? While somewhat accurate on its face the article misrepresents her vote intentionally creating the impression that the sole provision of the bill was the tracking of tips.
Don't agree. The IRS was supposed to be targeting $400,000 and over. Cackling Kamala is a liar and a hypocrite.
Very cool! Kamala Harris proves yet again that she both cares about enforcing laws and prosecuting criminals.....AND that she is fiscally responsible! As compared to Rapey Don, who cares about neither law and order nor fiscal responsibility. After all, he's a convicted felon who has declared bankruptcy multiple times. #SAD!
