The Vance dossier is interesting. Could this give the campaign the chance to drop him? I do not think he has made public appearance in recent days.
put this int he trumps' troubles thread. so many trump threads, so little time We received internal Trump documents from ‘Robert.’ The campaign just confirmed it was hacked. (msn.com) The campaign blamed “foreign sources hostile to the United States,” citing a Microsoft report on Friday that Iranian hackers “sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official on a presidential campaign.” Microsoft did not identify the campaign targeted by the email and declined to comment Saturday. POLITICO has not independently verified the identity of the hacker or their motivation, and a Trump campaign spokesperson, Steven Cheung, declined to say if they had further information substantiating the campaigns’ suggestion that it was targeted by Iran. “These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process,” Cheung said. “On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a vice presidential nominee.” Cheung declined to say whether the campaign had been in contact with Microsoft or law enforcement about the breach, saying it would not discuss such conversations. On July 22, POLITICO began receiving emails from an anonymous account. Over the course of the past few weeks, the person — who used an AOL email account and identified themselves only as “Robert” — relayed what appeared to be internal communications from a senior Trump campaign official. A research dossier the campaign had apparently done on Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, which was dated Feb. 23, was included in the documents. The documents are authentic, according to two people familiar with them and granted anonymity to describe internal communications. One of the people described the dossier as a preliminary version of Vance’s vetting file.
The Trump campaign statement adds that “any media or news outlet reprinting documents or internal communications are doing the bidding of America’s enemies and doing exactly what they want." (4/4) .... From my Mueller FBI 302s. Rick Gates intv 2018. Rick "Gates recalled a time on the campaign aircraft when candidate Trump said, ‘get the emails.’" Michael "Flynn said he could use his intelligence sources to obtain the emails."
This will be where we learn the truth about how many couches he assaulted. I’m hearing as many as 4. Hush money and settlements were paid out.
While it does appear that the Trump campaign was hacked and the chances are that the culprit was a state actor specifically Iran maybe the Democrats and the liberal talking heads should take a page from the Trump/right-wing playbook and refer to the story as a hoax. In fact and despite evidence to the contrary the Trumpian Pubs and media are still using the term "hoax" in reference to Russian interference in the 2016 campaign.
As I said in the Trump Troubles thread, why do you believe the Trump campaign's story about this? They probably leaked it themselves as step 1 of replacing Vance.
This is my thought. Someone named "Robert" on an AOL account? Sounds like RFK Jr wants to be maga VP.
I agree that I don't trust what they say, but I'm not sure I buy it as a purposeful tactic to push out Vance because how would that work? There'd have to be something so bad that they found in their vetting (beyond the anti-women, anti-childless) to disqualify him. Which would mean that they knew about it and nominated him anyway. That would make them look even worse than if they just kicked him off without explanation.
This is how it may look: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Palm Beach, Florida – 8/11/2024 Statement on the Recent Developments Regarding J.D. Vance In light of recent events, the Trump Campaign wishes to address the situation regarding J.D. Vance and the decision to remove him from the ticket. When we first considered J.D. Vance as a candidate for Vice President, we conducted a thorough vetting process. During this process, certain information was discovered that, at the time, was deemed to be a private matter with no impact on his ability to serve the American people effectively. We determined that this matter, being private and not widely known, would not interfere with our commitment to bringing strong, principled leadership to the White House. However, in the weeks following the convention, this information was leaked to the public. The reaction from the American people has been strong, and we have heard their voices loud and clear. We recognize that, despite our initial assessment, the public's response has highlighted the potential for this matter to overshadow the critical issues facing our nation. Our campaign has always been about putting the needs and concerns of the American people first. We believe it is imperative that our leadership reflects the values and integrity that our supporters expect and deserve. While it was never our intention to allow this issue to distract from our mission, it has become clear that the focus has shifted away from the important work that lies ahead. After careful consideration and in the interest of the campaign and the country, we have made the difficult decision to remove J.D. Vance from the ticket. This decision was not made lightly, and it reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring that the American people have confidence in the leaders they elect. We thank J.D. Vance for his service and dedication and wish him the best in his future endeavors. Moving forward, our focus remains on addressing the challenges facing our nation and ensuring that the Trump Campaign continues to represent the values and aspirations of all Americans. We will be announcing a new Vice Presidential candidate in the coming days who embodies the principles and vision that our campaign stands for. Together, we will continue to fight for a better, stronger America. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Chris LaCivita Co-campaign manager Trump Campaign BTW...
