In the upcoming election of former President Donald Trump versus current Vice President Kamala Harris, how many debates should be held between the two candidates? Three is what I'm used to. I think three is the right number.
Three is the standard. I picked three. But for me, personally, I would think two would be sufficient. But I also think presidential campaigns in general are far more tedious and drawn out than they need to be. People don’t get their news from the papers any more. Why can’t the whole damn thing from primaries to the election be done in 6 months?
Why on earth would Harris only want one debate? These debates afford her a great opportunity to communicate her policies to people who don’t attend her rallies.
3 but I am an aging traditionalist. My guess is that many young people couldn't care less about debates as all they've ever seen are candidates who don't answer questions and give rambling political monolgues with distorted facts as answers instead.
I think two is the optimal number for presidential candidates (one focusing on the economy and other domestic affairs and the other on foreign policy). And I would like to see the VP candidates debate in a third.
I'll never forget sitting on the couch watching one of the Obama debates with my Canadian born and raised uncle. Every time Obama opened his mouth Uncle Bud would get angry and say "We tried that shit in Canada, it don't work". I think it was the only debate I ever enjoyed watching.
You seem to be the only person who is saying that she wants only one debate. It would be more accurate to say that she has only agreed to one debate at this time. She is very likely still negotiating the conditions for the other two debates and once she finishes negotiating the conditions she will likely agree to participate in the other two. Nowhere does it say that she is refusing to participate in more than a single debate.
I think there should be 3 debates between the 2 leading candidates and thus far there have been 0. One debate is a joke.
Such a weird thread. There will be 3 debates between Harris & Trump. I know you’re panicked and want more opportunities for Trump to stop the Kamala train momentum so rest assured he’ll get those chances.
There is a good chance that in the end there will be three debates and as I stated several weeks ago regarding the (then) possibility that Biden would withdraw and end up being replaced by Harris, "be careful what you wish for". Rather than having a single opportunity to destroy Trump three debates would provide Kamala Harris with three opportunities to decimate the rapidly fading candidacy of the cognitively impaired former president.
The more debates, the better it is for We The People. We need to see them explain their political platform in person... hear their view for our American future in their own words.
I think there should be a debate every week. A TV series called "The Donald Trump Comedy Hour." Harris will be laughing so hard, no canned laughter will be needed.
Enough to make it clear to even the most dense republicans that Trump should not be running for president.
When two people run for president, there needs to be debate. These debates are a vital exchange of ideas. Two people, two ideas. When these two people come together to exchange these ideas, there's a debate. And debates must be held, as they are a vital to get the exchange of ideas from these two candidates. This is a debate of ideas between two people. An exchange of one idea for the other. That's how these debates work.
