By: Nick Marcinko -- August 6, 2024 Senior running back Montrell Johnson suffered a knee injury that required a minor surgery during fall camp. UF is considering Johnson “week to week,” per reports. Johnson has led Florida in rushing each of the last two seasons and finds his name on several preseason All-SEC publications as well as the Doak Walker Award Watchlist. The Gators’ starting running back could miss a large chunk, if not all of fall camp, which puts him in danger of missing Florida’s week one game vs Miami. Who will the Gators turn to if Johnson can’t go on August 31st? Who will lead Florida’s backfield during Montrell Johnson’s absence? | GatorCountry.com
This is the first I've heard about Ja'Kobi Jackson's speed... He did that well in the O&B scrimmage, and yet we haven't really heard anyone else talking about Jackson's speed and play, in game type situations like the O&B game/scrimmage? I might have to see if I can find out more about this hidden gem in the Gators' backfield. If he's really a threat to make house-calls... then we might need him on the field for sure, even when Montrell gets fully healthy. I will keep an eye on that dude this coming season. He might be the biggest surprise in that talented running-backs room.
Pcola and he might just need a chance to play. He is buried. Daniel’s could get a shot sooner than expected too. Blocking could be what determines playtime if our boy isn’t back. Anybody can run through holes if our line can block.
