By: Gentry Hawk -- August 5, 2024 Heading into his junior year last season, Florida cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. looked to be the next top draft pick for the Florida Gators in the 2024 NFL Draft. Ever since those expectations fell short, the fourth-year cornerback has made it a priority to prove a point after returning to school and regaining his confidence heading into his final season of college football. “Just being more consistent”: Jason Marshall details rebuilding confidence after 2023 season | GatorCountry.com
It's a shame that our entire back end of the defense didn't have the coaching, they deserved. There is more to playing DB than just running a superfast 40. Being in the right place is all about coaching, and I hope that he and the rest of our DB/Safeties get the best coaching for their respective positions. Some people on other sites think you have to run a sub 4.4 second 40 to make it in the NFL... I think it's a weighted issue if you know where to be on any given play. The better you are at being at the right place, the less you need to be the fastest player on the field at DB... Not that Marshall isn't fast, but for some reason people have questioned that aspect of his game, which I think is nonsense. He's plenty fast. I can't wait to see the improvements on the defensive side of the ball. Can't wait!
Hoping for a big bounce back year for Marshall. I think sticking it out and staying here vs transferring was a very mature decision and bodes well for him.
Taking the easy road says a lot about a player. He had his faults of his own. Own that shit and get better. For him, constant hustle is where it starts and being consistent on every play. After that, I could be off base but if I’m the other team picking on his weakness, I go 50/50 balls with a tough physical receiver. Receivers seem to go up and get the ball over him. Maybe he needs to practice rebounding with the basketball team. He seems to get boxed out and not be in position to get the “rebound.”
