I also said that the president like every executive branch employee should be required to put his assets in a blind trust. As an example when Rex Tillerson became Secretary of State he was forced to divest his holdings in Exxon estimated at $54 million in Exxon stock and options to purchase another $180 million over a 10-year period. Donald Trump was the most corrupt president in history and it's not even close and if he is elected again his corruption will probably rise to that of his friend and idol Vladimir Putin one of the wealthiest individuals in the world.

Trump has yet to do the same.

In terms of Biden, it was $1.8 million from his book tour, an $8 million three book deal, 19 speaking engagements from which he earned $2.4 million, Jill Biden's speaking engagements for $700K, and an annual salary from the University of Pennsylvania of $540,484. Biden actually left office with a pretty low net worth. Obama's book sales from his prior books brought in some wealth while he was in office, but the vast majority was also from after he left office.
Obama’s high net worth is incredibly easy to figure, since he signed a $60 million book publishing deal and another deal with Netflix. No shady business required. I think the issue with Trump is so many of his “businesses” are actually money losers and scams you basically have to assume nothing he does is legit. You realize that when Trump was on the apprentice the conference room was a fake? This was after his bankruptcy so there was no “business”. No Trump headquarters or conference room. Even the ostensibly “legit” business’s he has now like the couple of hotels somehow lose money under Trump. So actually for him to be distributing income to himelf or propping up money losing businesses in essence requires shady activity (hence, foreign dignitaries staying at his personally owned properties at premium rates, secret service getting charged full price at his hotels, etc). At best it’s self-dealing, but i think “self-dealing” is a novel and almost naive concern which gravely underestimates the depth of this guys corruption.
Yeah, his source of income in the 2000s and early 2010s was by licensing his name, no-questions asked. So he would give his name over to whatever scam some white collar criminal cooked up. This led to his name being attached to a lot of money laundering businesses as well as the more classic scams like "Trump University." Since he entered politics, his primary source of value is selling access to power. That is how he started a very unsuccessful social media platform by any industry metric that matters that is still worth money despite a lack of growth on the business side of things.
The Apprentice and licensing his name was perhaps the only “legit”money Trump ever made. He could have licensed his name only to legit operators, but that’s just not how this guy rolls. If a mobster had the bigger payoff that’s who he signs with.
