I know many will find this encouraging since we've been talking a lot about the O-Line. Florida Gators offensive lineman Knijeah Harris is leaner and meaner for season two in Gainesville. / Doug Engle / USA TODAY NETWORK By: Terrance Biggs -- July 27, 2024 Florida Gators sophomore offensive lineman Knijeah Harris enters his second year in The Swamp. This year feels dramatically different because he will start more than one game, like he did last season. For Harris, year two needs to feature not just rapid improvement but a sustained approach. Gators OL Knijeah Harris Looks Ready to Take Next Step
This would be the first offensive lineman that Napier has recruited that is starting. We are in year three. We need some more guys next year because the portal is a supplement not a way of living.
I'm glad to see the progress that his all around mind, body and physical conditioning... and that all that off season work paying off. Are we there yet? Football is coming soon... can't wait.
24/7's Jacob Rudner, reporting that Waites may be challenging George for the right guard position. Waites is also challenging Dixon for his spot. Waites is splitting time between guard and tackle. While this suggests Waites is good, we are talking about a guy that has not played much, and coming off a spring injury, so that's interesting if not concerning. Is he that good or are two guys projected to be starters in the spring, eh, struggling? 24/7 suggests the right side is not where they expect to be after early fall drills. Obviously much depends on the offensive line development.
I'm glad to hear about KH looking like he's ready to make a splash. He was a big get and his readiness for this moment is essential IMO. Hopefully someone can seize control of RG, sooner rather than later too. I sure as heck hope so. One way or the other, we're playing CFB later this month and I'm beyond ready for that.
Meh, I'm OK with the tone of the article because it does not make premature assumptions, one way or the other. But it does absolutely represent the situation with KH in a positive and forward-looking light. Not saying that's a rub for you personally, but it is for some. I'll say it again, "guarded optimism" is not a thought crime.
I think 24/7 is looking for clicks. They are not even in pads yet, but we will see. This is going to be a very competitive camp and iron sharpens iron, and the best will rise to the top.
There is no escaping the click bait because hungry fans are looking for it four weeks out - whether there's much to it or not. I know because I am one. And the natural selection during training camp is cranking up too. On that note: Billy said one thing as a throwaway line yesterday that I really liked; "Better people make better players." That is an intriguing promise. If he's right, we will find out soon enough. If his quiet but discernable new swagger and "cat that ate the canary" look are not delusional, we may be in for a lesson in forbearance and a pleasant surprise as the season unfolds.
