Part of the point is that he's VP nom. Keep it positive and benign. Less is more. Trying to out Trump Trump, is plumb stupid. He was tapped bc his story is inspirational--a feel good, rags to riches American dream story.

Not to be an attack dog or general douchebag.

    VP= Less. Is. More.

There will be a time when he will be called upon to show the world what he's made of. That time is not now. And certainly now is not the time for him to show his ass.

Not quite sure where the parenting pissing contest is coming from, but... is there really anything good can come from this angle?

Seems to be the natural evolution of the ridiculous argument that being a parent is better than not being a parent… next step is being a good parent is better than being a bad parent. Slippery slope. Very animal farm.

Pretty much agree. Just part of why I'm condemning the angle. Just idiotic and counter productive.

Anyway--you have a great sense of humor, and we both have pretty thick skin--but when you start going after ppl's kids... that is one thing that absolutely transcends politics. I'd suggest not feeding that particular beast, as a matter of civilty (and you know this is coming from a guy who doesn't mind getting sullied in the fray...).

    Just my humble suggestion.

This place can get a bit nasty, but seems that angle risks traversing a threshold that will bely civility.

(...and fwiw, it's not personal to me--my house hasn't seen south of an A in 4 years (4 kids) and counting... 2 for 2 in getting UF admission... all kinds of accolades...).

    Again, jmho/fwiw.

Based on the Project 2025 platform, JD Vance is an ideal VP pick.

I guess we’ll find out. JDV might be on to something. I never have thought about it in that light. The guy is pretty smart and has made an astute observation, even if it’s not worth mentioning in interviews.

But did she raise them? Don't dip into some arbitrary criterion.

Of course we have an impact on kids as adults. My oldest two are 18 and 20. But my impact is no longer called "raising". I am raising my 13 year old. I have raised the two adults. I do still impact them.

Well being that they were very young, she is indeed raising them.

Lol. Raising? Of course i believe facts.

    You font raise adults.

You evolve from raising a child to impacting and supporting.

    What parent doesnt believe this?

Its the literal definition. According to the Google.

    You raise then TO adulthood.
You then evolve into a different role.
Mentor. Guide. Advisor. Etc. but you raise children, not adults.

My parents are no longer raising me, but I do lean on their guidance a great deal

The prefrontal cortex isn't fully developed until around 25 years old. I'd also say a good parent gives advise well into a child's adulthood. And what is "raising" if not teaching lessons, giving advise, and hoping the child listens.

"Less is more" for a VP candidate? What kind of idiocy is that? Ideally, the V.P. is supposed to fill in whatever is missing from the presidential candidate. Reagan ran with George Bush Sr., who was not only a Washington insider (which Reagan was not), but served in a variety of roles (including head of the CIA) that Reagan had no experience with. As a secondary reason, the V.P. could come from a part of the country that has a lot of citizens (lots of electors for President) and may not react as well to where the Presidential candidate comes from. JFK selected LBJ largely for that reason, because Texans might not like a candidate from New England.

Trump has a moderate amount of popularity in most of the states (other than California and Hawaii) with uneducated voters, so a "regional V.P." will not help him. Trump also has a LOT of deficiencies when it comes to presidential qualifications, even though he has been president before. He is an untrustworthy person to our allies, and he fawns over dictators. He desperately needs someone with foreign policy experience. He has no answers to the immigration problem that he so frequently wails about, except for the brilliant idea to build another 52 miles of fence (2.7% of the border length) and call it a wall (and the fence he built was in areas that already had a wall or fence, so he failed to increase the amount of the border that was secured). So he needs a V.P. who understands politics and working with Congress, is capable of rational thought and ideas to actually solve problems, and doesn't stick his foot in his mouth at every opportunity. As a draft dodger, Trump should probably select someone with military experience. As a known and/or suspected rapist, Trump should also select a V.P. who is practically a monk (or nun) and does not think about having sex with his own daughter. Vance is mostly useless to Trump, except as a cultural warrior-type clown, which Trump doesn't need any help with.

And Trump does not need someone with an inspirational story. Trump has his own inspirational story. A tale of being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, dodging the draft, accepting $400 million from his father, keeping black renters out of his father's apartments, cheating his contractors and business associates, defrauding the government, raping women, having sex with strippers, hopping from one marital bed to the next, and blaming immigrants and liberals for all the world's problems, maligning war heroes, etc. What could be more inspirational than that? If anyone is going to show his ass in this election, it damn well better be Trump!

Ironically, under Trump/Vance Project 2025, women will need to weigh having children very carefully. For instance, an ectopic pregnancy occurs in 20 of every 1000 pregnancies and is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Under Trump/Vance, an abortion will be denied to save her life. Except, the alternative for women who choose to not have children or for those who simply cannot conceive for medical reasons, according to Vance, will be to live with no voice in the country. This is the choice Christian Nationalism represents to half our population. Who in their right mind would vote for that?

So many words...to essentially echo what I said (in much fewer words). Talk about idiocy--you pretend to counter my point, then proceed to back it up. GHW Bush was a quiet bureaucrat. His strength was his Insider connections in DC, and connections in Texas. He never outshone Reagan. Barely registered as a blip. He was just there, in waiting, as VP.

The same can't be said of LBJ. though he never outdhone JFK, but did sit back enough until he could clear him out of the way (or he was cleared out of the way for him, independent of him--depending on the theory one subscribes to).

So the point stands--once tapped as VP...less. is. More.

VP noise of any sort, is only source of liability. Their strength, is latent.

Dan Quayle, Dick Cheney, Kamala Harris, inter alia, stand out as liabilities to their respective POTUS bosses. They brought unwelcome attention upon themselves, which innured to their bosses.

GHWB, Pence, Doh! Biden, as VP= Less. Is. More.
