That sucks! I’d probably have to catch a charge myself if that had been my wife. My wife’s ex-husband got 10 years, but was never violent to her to my knowledge. His girlfriend brought the charges. He was a Sheriff so the judge made an example out of him and gave him the max. Served 2 and had to leave the state as a condition of parole. Nine years after he was sentenced, I legally adopted his daughter.

It happened before us when she lived in Albuquerque NM. The same police department that had been under federal investigation and monitoring for the past 10 yrs.

He ended up violating his diversion plan by threatening her daughter(who stupidly put on Facebook that they had moved to Tampa) that he was going to find them and kill them. He served 5 yrs and got out. She never has heard from him again.

Look how well UGA is doing in this metric.

You never know if they’re just passing out diplomas or if they are actually trying to educate their kids

That sucks 96’. I had a friend who was on the run from her ex until the day she died (natural causes). Every time he found her, she would flee that state. Guys like that should rot under the prison.

What do you an expect from a school that can't spell dogs correctly? Also that G on the helmets came from the Packers. Finally, their fight song came the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Incapable of original thought they are.

I'm sorry. That only went on because the judge allowed it to continue and it should never have been allowed.

Some people believe that getting a college education nowadays is wildly overrated anyway, so not sure if this list means much to them.

Surprised at Bama - but then again they may be handing out degrees without having to attend classes. It would be interesting to see more metrics associated with academic performance among football players

Unsurprising. That is a metric that should be done away with in the new "pro" era. Who gives a dang if they even go to class not. The majority are just pretending to be students.

Raw numbers can definitely be misleading without appropriate context. But that player grad rate speaks for itself. FTR, the university itself isn't terrible - it's actually quite good in many respects. The unbridled dedication to winning at all costs, despite the growing rap sheet and a fatality here and there, PLUS the academic maleficence of a 41% graduation rate are considerably less admirable. But I'm sure a fine fellow like Kirby will do the right thing and get it all straightened out - eventually.

Agreed. No defendant that commits a crime that intentionally injures another human should ever be eligible for diversion and its ridiculous that a judge would offer it.

Nothing to see here, folks. Clarke County will dismiss the charges and Georgia will clear him to play.

I do. IMHO, the academic and fiduciary mission of the University of Florida should not be severely compromised or discarded altogether for the purpose of winning FB games. Don't get me wrong. I want to win as much as anybody and I'm not intentionally going the holier than thou route. But as much as I love Gator FB, I love the University of Florida and the values and standards it represents more. I also believe that those values and the kind of recruit they can attract are the best possible avenue to eventual success in both realms. Bottom line is that UF is about educating students first and FB has to find a way to prosper within that paradigm. Don't burn down a great institution of learning trying to prosper the FB team. It probably won't work anyway. The CFB world is already full of pirates and cutthroats, I'll pass on joining that merry crew.

Two run ins with the law in the past year and half. Both of them concerning violence to family members including children.

I would not be surprised if this guy has a juvenile record with incidents of violence.

    Two things need to happen.

First of all UGA needs to suspend him ASP and wait to get all the facts (if they have not done so already).
Second is to cut all ties with him if this current charge is as serious as it appears to be.

The legal process in Athens/Clark Count needs to do their job.
1, File the charges correctly and not water them down.
2, Conduct a fair trial by the book!
3, Sentence person to jail/prison to protect the public and himself.

The last thing is that this guy needs a lot of mental health and be willing to take it.

If the above is half ass done (or not at all) we will be hearing more about this guy where injuries or worse is involved.

How the hell as a college football coach can you be proud and continue to allow a graduation rate of 41% and still walk into a recruits home and with a straight face talk to the parents about anything related to academics and taking care of the kids after football?
