and there is no such candidate because they didn't hold a primary. this Biden news isn't new, just the first time he has been exposed without a teleprompter at the right time of day. the decision to force his hand should have happened a long time ago.
The Florida democratic party is especially messed up. Just having dealt with them for a couple years, they are out of step with other state Dem parties in places on even internal stuff and intraparty voting, stuff that should be easy. Like the national party was on the verge of sanctioning the state party and taking away primary delegates because they didnt even have a one man one vote system on certain FDP matters. Maybe they've sorted that out, but I havent been checked in for some time.
It varies by county, some counties have very good operations and some don't. Historically, the power base is the big counties since they have the most votes. Everything went through Miami/Dade basically since they had more votes. When I was involved, I was with the progressives who wanted to move to a system where every county was on equal footing on a one man one vote basis (which is basically how every state did it except FL), as we needed to really improve things in small counties where Trump had ran up the score. Lots of those counties actually have very good orgs and dedicated people and energy to GOTV, but they could be outvoted easily on operational matters that tended to favor the status quo. Lots of older people were really invested in that system and the influence they had in it and didn't want to let it go. Winning and losing didnt make any difference to them since they maintained their status, got to go to the conventions and do all the lame stuff like that. It was very frustrating and anti-democratic. I haven't really kept up, and maybe with Miami/Dade becoming less influential in delivering statewide elections for Democrats there are cracks now. There was a lot of energy after Trump was elected, and they kind of pissed it away. Like everything in this country, it was mainly about people who didnt realize it was time to step down and let others have a crack.
