Spoke about winter apparel and possibilities...WTH? o_O
Also Supreme Court reform (packing the court?).

Sounded like a mini State of the Union address.
Really expected a different type of send-off talk.
    Thankfully it was brief.

Now take care of yourself and enjoy your retirement.

We finally found out why he dropped out of the race......

President Biden explained to Americans that it was time to pass the torch to a new generation of political leaders. “There is a time and a place for a long years of experience in public life. There’s also a time and a place for new voices. Fresh voices? Yes. Younger voices. And that time and place is now,”

I admit.....I thought it had to do with his party & supporters demanding he step down. You know...because of his poor polling numbers.....

Hey....learn something new every day! :ninja:

Not mutually exclusive. Yes he was pressured to step down. But that quote is still absolutely true.

I understand your argument.......but I don't remember anyone saying specifically his age was the problem.

Not a big deal for me - just thought it a bit disingenuous.....especially after saying he always tells the truth......

Sadly, we're stuck with Biden for 6 months. I had hoped he'd drop the other shoe by resigning his Office of the Dictatorship.

He was getting shellacked in the polls after Trump murdered him in the debate. So, he capitulated to the pressure of the Dems in Congress and quit while the Dems could still get on every state ballot.

You think Kacula is an improvement over Doh! Biden???

As my mom used to say: "Mas vale malo conocido que bueno por conocer." (Loosely translated--rather, interpretted: known evil is less harmful than rosy (presumably empty) promises of things to be-- you know the evil; the empty promises cause you to depend to your detriment on things thar will never be, leaving you doubly @#%%'d).

    We know Doh!.

    Kackles as POTUS is terrifying.

Interesting. I thought it was Joe who made the decision.

You know.....because he wanted the best for the country...not for himself.

Look.....like I said - not a big deal. But all these people lauding him for being such a generous person couldn't be more wrong. He wasn't going anywhere - until the party AND his supporters AND donors told him he had no choice.

What we saw tonight was who he is. Another CAREER politician doing a spin on the whole situation. That's what they do!

For 4 years, the Trumpers' narrative was that Biden was too old and showing his age both physically and mentally. Now you deny your own narrative, because its YOUR guy who is too old and losing it. ;)

    Bottom of a pint glass
The narrative flipped between Biden is too old and slow and also Obama is really in charge. Makes a ton of sense....

Why wasn’t it true a year ago when he could have just not sought reelection?
What changed that he feels like younger voices are needed?
Just a few weeks ago he said he was the best guy to lead the country, now it needs younger voices.

    You’re not that naive.
If he hadn’t bombed the debate so badly he wouldn’t be backing out.

As you well know, things change. Unlike Trump, Biden is still smart and experienced and can think strategically. On his worst day, Biden is still smarter and more mature than Trump, who has the mind and emotional maturity of an 11 year old (per Steve Bannon).

But, as seen in the debate, he no longer presents himself well in the spotlight. Trump was vulnerable and gave Biden several openings, but Biden didn't take advantage.

Reality set in. Biden was showing his age more and more. It was time for a change. It took some convincing, partly because his inner circle was shielding him from that reality.

Fortunately, Biden did the right thing by passing the torch to Harris.
