I'm most interested in what happens with Cyr, Shelton, Heyman, Evans & Jameson. Would love to have most, if not all, of them back for next season.
And, of course, I want Barlow as a Gator.

I'm pretty sure the 1st round of the draft is Sunday at 7:00pm... which is great for anyone interested/watching the Euro Cup Final.... no overlap:)

Sophomores are draft eligible if they turn 21 before the draft. I just looked up Cyr's birthday and he won't be 21 until November, so he's not eligible for this year's draft. Good catch.

Google has an article stating 7:00 pm, but all the ESPN articles/site state 5:00 pm ET.

I have seen the same ESPN articles, but believe it is incorrect. MLB Network says 7:00pm and when I scrolled through my cable guide to Sunday and checked ESPN it says 7:00pm

Correct, the MLB website shows 7:00 pm and 2:00 for Monday and Tuesday, so I’ve updated post #1.

You know, if Caglianone falls out of the first few rounds then we might have a shot....

2&3 would both be favorable destinations for Jac. GABP is a bandbox, especially in right -- Jac would make a good Joey Votto v. 2. And Coors will flatten out breaking-ball pitches so he can turn-and-burn. Shift as much as the rules allow? Plenty of room in left and Jac'll learn how to flick doubles to left. (My mind wanders back to 2008 -- when we had Matt Vasgersian in SD, Vin Scully in LA, and Kupier&Krukow in SF -- and I briefly hope for Colorado. Those were great times for baseball-loving night-owls like me with an MLB Extra Inning sub [or MLB.tv and great internet connection].)

If Shelton goes that high the left side of our infield will be quite an adventure

Hopefully I am forgetting someone but seems like that would leave us with 4 (non 1B) infielder possibilities: Kurland, Stripling, Nadeau and possibly Cyr.

I sure hope Evans & Heyman come back for another year.

Someone will pick Coppola. It will be a matter of if it is team that develops pitchers or throws them out there and see if they stick. If he gets drafted by a team with patience he should seriously consider going pro. He has potential but might need another year of a gentle touch to reach that potential.

Also how much of a signing bonus could be a factor.

I agree completely Lurk—he needs to realize that once he signs he just became “real property”…..

I'm just a message board armchair quarterback, but Heyman going that much higher than Evans would make me question everything I think I know about evaluating players.

    DD11—

You’re making the same assumption that a lot of people (myself included) have made at some point. You actually think picks are made solely by talent evaluation. You would like to think players are selected according to their evaluated skills and talents.

That is most accurate at the earliest stage of the draft IMHO. As the draft progresses you will realize that signability is the front runner for all selection of players.

Where years ago there may have been some bargaining between some players and organizations now the two things that are key for draft positions are signability and slot money. And to me they run hand in hand.
