No you said “The10c are pretty universal.” (Post 32) and I gave you examples of how it’s not “universal”.

Why wouldn’t they just require teachers to have some version of The Golden Rule in their classroom. Wouldn’t even have to be in KJV language. Just “Treat others like you want to be treated” Covers most of the 10c.

I think its because its not pointedly Christian enough.

Perhaps. The previous generation of Christians in particular were very legalistic about wording.

But Jesus Himself basically said what you said, but chose two commandments to cover hundreds. Traditional religious folk hated Him for such things

Might be a great alternative to what we are seeing in public education in today’s environment!!

Ohhhh I smell lawsuits incoming. What about the Jewish kid or Muslim kid in class? You either start teaching all the religions or none at all. I vote for none at all. Then again I’m the heathen that eats a cheeseburger every Friday during lent…

Teaching a specific religion in public schools will be better? Is this a joke?

Or the atheists/agnostics. The fact they are advocating for a god at all is unconstitutional.

Exactly, if it was being taught from in say a world religion class it’s appropriate otherwise it should no more be used as a text book than any other religious book.

And what about the Jewish, Muslim, or Hindi teacher? Where is their right to free expression of their religion? They are being forced to teach something that in some cases might be heresy. Not something Christians would stand for. Might be better if teachers taught secular curriculum.

Agreed here but this would require additional education and training most school teachers do not have.

Do you have reading comprehension issues?

A world religion class would necessitate the use of many books of faith where is that indoctrination of one particular religion?

    Or perhaps you’re just anti-christian, anti-jew?

And for the record I’m no MAGA.

Not sure, I had a world religion class in CC. Don’t think that teacher had any special training.

    But not in 3rd grade.
I would not want to be taught anything by a teacher that had no educational background in the subject matter they taught - especially at the college level.

    100%. If that’s the grade it’s a no go.

3rd grades need to focus on reading, math and the basics IMhO.

I think that you’re missing the point. The Oklahoma superintendent is NOT talking about a world religion class. This directive is across ALL curriculum in grades 5(?) through 12. THAT is religious indoctrination.

Interestingly, they already have an elective course on the New Testament as part of their state standards. Why is that not sufficient?
