I think you might be referring to the Wildflowers house up on a hill right off S 13th St at the end of Archer Rd. If you are, they bulldozed that place for student apartment some years ago.

Thanks so much for this great thread! I had no idea the album was created and don’t believe I have ever heard Southern Accents before.

The Petty Country album is on YouTube and I highly recommend that everyone listen to the overview which has a great overview of Tom Petty and his relationship to country music.

For those interested, late in his life, Glen Campbell made an an album named “Meet Glen Campbell”. It is an album of covers. In it he does “Angel Dream” and “Walls”. He also has several other covers on it that are excellent, like Jackson Browne’s “These Days” and Foo Fighters “Times Like These”. It’s worth checking out. Never appreciated Glen much when I was young, but he was a hell of a guitar player.

Yeah, people have a hard time understanding what the South is all about. Those of us that are from the South or spent the better part of our lives in the South just get it.

This song chokes me up, makes me homesick for the South and Hogtown.

We buried my mom in Niceville, in the Panhandle. I remember driving to her burial coming from Fort Walton/Destin airfield, playing These Days, the Gregg Allman version- this tune has a similar feel to me very bittersweet.

Dubs. Man, I remember going to see the man in the hospital near the end. He was a big supporter of the band AXE. My brother's band, The News, Nancy Luca and all the local musicians. Dubs and as well as the Lamplighter I frequented quite often. Exposes my age a bit. Ha!

It's all good. Great stuff. Very much appreciated.

    Go Gators.

Tom Petty would be 74 years old this year, had he lived. Died at 66.

Good times. Really liked Nancy Luca and her band. They played lots of weekends when I was kitchen manager at the Olde College Inn circa 1984. Watched a homecoming parade from the roof with the band when they were there to rehearse one day. Had a Saturday night off once and took my girlfriend to the Inn to enjoy the band. I got up to help bring a couple more tables up front to accommodate the crowd. While I was out back the band was between sets and Nancy sat down with my girlfriend, chatted her up and and invited her out for “fun” after the gig. When I returned Nancy was disappointed that a dude was my girlfriend’s choice and gave me hell for leaving such a hot chick by herself. Yep. Good times.
