Being a far-right conservative (you can see my posts praising DeSantis, amongst others); it is 200% true that crime decreased the past 3-4 decades.

I grew up in 80s-90s Miami and let me tell ya, the crime there back then was exactly like the action movies (i.e. Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, The Substitute, Pain and Gain). Compared to back then, things now are relatively mild. It's a fact when the statistics match the eye test.

 

And yet there are educated people out there, like some who post here, that actually rely upon data-driven facts. I find your take and to some extent, docspor's take, to be cynical. Sure, there's an element of truth to the ignorance of the masses. It shouldn't, however, preclude folks from making informed opinions.
On another note, we made it through the school year with very few shootings this spring.

 

New FBI stats show 'historic' declines in violent crime rate, with murder showing sharpest drop

The murder rate fell by 26.4%, reported rapes decreased by 25.7%, robberies fell by 17.8%, aggravated assault fell by 12.5%, and the overall violent crime rate went down by 15.2%, the statistics show.

For the most part crime, including violent crime has been declining steadily every year for the last 30+ years or so. The problem is too many people with access to too much information.

I will say that the antisemitic college protests have largely died down, but the democrats who support these vile and evil people had to shut them down as it was hurting dems in the polls throwing gas on the fire of an election change year. It has been a long time since I felt this safe in the summer.

I recall DeSantis touting the improving numbers in Florida. Was he part of the conspiracy to lie about the numbers to help Biden?

 

For some groups there truly is an abhorrence of any factual data that disputes their narrative. Seems that facts must cause so much cognitive dissonance that they're simply ignored, tossed aside without consideration, or simply pushed into the MSM conspiracy realm. They are like cultists that exist without any question of their so called leaders. Or it's possible these people are just dumba$$es.

 

Criminals temporarily quit committing crimes because they were afraid they were helping Trump in the election. Criminals are deathly afraid of Donald Trump.

Gun laws seem to working to decrease violent gun crimes
Police seem to be working reducing violent crime
Red flag laws seem to be working
Etc…
Shouldn’t we all be happy that we live in a less violent time and society? Just a few years ago people were sure we were heading to the wild Wild West all over again. Clearly not the case..

I read this without looking at the poster. I realize this is sarcasm but it read like one of our trump apologists wrote it. Well done.

 

The FBI crime statistics are kind of like the labor market statistics from the BLS. With Biden in office they're all phony from a corrupt FBI. If (G-d forbid) Trump is elected and the crime rate continues to decline the statistics will suddenly become credible. In 2016 when Obama was in office the positive employment stats were phony according to Trump and his followers in MAGA nation. After Trump took office in 2017 the positive stats suddenly became credible although source (the Bureau of Labor Statistics) as well as the methodology used to calculate them remained unchanged. Also not unlike the election results. If Biden is reelected the election Trump and his MAGA cult will claim that the election was stolen from him as the result of massive fraud. If the Donald is elected Trump and the MAGA cult will categorize it as a free and fair election.

 

These numbers are obviously corrupt since Trump is not in office. If he was in office and the numbers were going down then we would be able to believe them
