Sounds like a guy that heard the George Zimmerman story and decided to give it a try. He said he was doing "overwatch" in the parking lot, waiting for some bad guys to show up, when he spotted the teens with an airsoft pistol ...

Myers, who is not a member of law enforcement, had decided to conduct “overwatch” at the parking lot and “immediately assumed” the three teens were about to commit a violent robbery, the prosecutor wrote. Overwatch is a military term for surveilling a location.

He exited his vehicle and pointed his pistol at the trio, commanding them to stop, drop their guns and get on the ground, the documents state. The teens complied and B.A. put the airsoft gun on the ground, saying it was just a “BB gun,” according to the prosecutor.

The 51-year-old then tackled B.A. and pinned him to the ground, the documents state. H.R. had his hands in the air and was backing away, and Myers then shot at him at least seven times, killing the teen, according to the case summary.

Charge him and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.

Unless, of course, you are ok with this kind of thing.

The fact that he said he was there for overwatch should make this murder 1. He planned ahead and was prepared to kill someone.

It seems ironic that a guy carrying a gun decided to confront and kill someone else carrying a gun because he assumed that having a gun meant they were dangerous criminals about to commit crimes ...

"Overwatch" I wonder if this guy was ever actually in the military. It's kinda giving off mall cop mixed with gravy seals vibes.

The moron doing “overwatch” in a parking lot probably doesn’t even know what irony means, thus he could never truly “appreciate” it.

Has similarities to Zimmerman and Rittenhouse. We all know how those trials ended up. Maybe I've become cynical, but I'm not confident in what should be an obvious murder conviction here. The guy will get on the stand and say he feared for his life and there are enough 2A sympathizers out there that he could walk.

Shot the kid at least six times in the back … good lord
Seems like a tragedy was just a matter of time with this guy. If the story is accurate, he was looking for trouble and fully incapable of dealing with it

Sounds like the dude was out of control. He "saw" what he was looking for...youths w/ guns. Yes, he should be tried and if found guilty punished severely. As rivergator state - it was just a matter of time. Very sad.

Victim’s name is Hazrat Ali Rohani. I can already guess what he looked like, which likely played a part in why this fake ass mall cop nerd approached him with evil intentions in the first place. Throw this loser ammosexual in prison. Just another day in gun violent America…

Brown skin? Check. That's all the guy needed. Typical. Will the "pro life" and "pro child" party come to the family's aid and defense of this dead child? Not in the least.

I think there’s a fundamental difference from this case versus the other cases. In this case, the teens did not attack the perpetrator. They complied with his order to get on the ground. At the worst, he should’ve held them there until the police arrived. The one kid was on the ground, so he had no need to tackle him. There’s absolutely no need to shoot the other kid in the back.

His defense attorney said that he thought he was witnessing a violent crime in action. What in the world was a crime in the parking lot with no one else around? He wasn’t even in the store.

This guy was an overzealous idiot. I hope this guy fries.

More info on the shooter ... apparently almost shot a bicycle rider in 2022 because he mistook a bicycle part for a gun ...

Myers had previously been involved in a March 2022 incident in which he chose to “intervene” when he mistakenly believed someone was armed, according to the document.

In that case, Myers called 911 to report that a person on a bicycle was pointing a gun at people, and Myers said he had a pistol and may have to intervene, the affidavit states. Myers then followed the bicyclist and told police he thought he might have to shoot the person. Officers arrived at the scene and determined the bicyclist’s item was not a gun but “a silver metal object that was possibly a part to a bicycle,” the document states.

It’s similar in the sense both were wannabe cops looking to play vigilante, both ended up killing teenagers who were otherwise minding their own business.

The difference is this idiot did it all in a parking lot and apparently there is ample video, whereas Zimmerman followed the kid through a neighborhood in the dark, and that encounter lacked video to clarify the actual encounter itself.
