Agreed. Also have zero problem with Ukraine launching sorties and conducting maintenance from Poland et al. Putin will whine. That mentally challenged sycophant Medvedev will make another empty nuclear threat. But what will Russia actually do about it? If they want to target Ukrainian assets in NATO countries and call it fair game, then that’s their right. I will feel awful for any Poles living a mile away from Russia’s intended precision targets.

This is frequently mentioned and it’s not convincing. That was 80 years ago. I anticipate our civil war won’t be used regarding what we would sacrifice. All societies had a higher tolerance for casualties in ww2 and there was an understandable argument of not having a choice. The US lost 410k lives and still making plans to invade mainland Japan before the bomb. Russia is now a different country, their populace have vastly different life experiences and this is a different type of war. Russia in ww2 was still going thru Stalinism and a totalitarian police state with millions imprisoned, deported or killed who didn’t fall in line. Then in ww2 they had the majority of the German army ruthlessly invading them. Driving toward Moscow before they were stopped.

Sierragator has a good point in post 26263 that we can’t compare US to Russia’s reaction in a current war. But we also can’t compare current Russia to the Soviet Union 80 yrs ago in ww2. A better comparison might be Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. They had roughly 15k killed in that war and they stopped. In their current invasion of Ukraine, Russia already has 3x - 4x killed as they did in Afghanistan. But to reiterate the point, Putin appears to be doing a much better job with propaganda and squashing any organized public objection or reporting.

You are using way too much reason with chucklehead. He can't process three sentences of logical thought, much less three paragraphs.

Brits claim that Putin has been humiliated again. The U.S. allowing Ukraine to fire weapons into Russia was supposed to be a clear red line that Putin would not tolerate, and yet he tolerated it. Apparently, Putin is a coward.

A Ukrainian fighter jet has attacked a target in Russia for the first time. A command node and ammo dump were destroyed.

Putin is disappointed in the performance of his hypersonic missiles enough to jail the physicists behind their design. They are charged with treason.

'Spy mania': Why is Russia accusing its own physicists of treason? (yahoo.com)

Looks like Europe's Ukraine support is coming to an end:

If Trump gets elected the same will probably happen here.

it is going to be interesting to watch ukraine try and assert some control or at least use of the airspace to impact the battles as more and more air defenses get taken out.

I don't keep up with European politics, but yes, this will likely push the EU towards settling with Russia. You would think the EU of all people, would be very concerned about Russia's intervention in Ukraine, but they are not.

    I’ll throw you a bone …

Russia is fighting this war in such a manner as to minimize casualties, which is why its casualties are low given that this is a land war the likes of which the world has not seen since WWII and possibly WWI.

Never mind Russia and China decoupling from the West, Europe would do well to decouple from the U.S.

And no, Kyiv has not shot down hypersonic missiles. Also, if Russian hypersonic missiles are a laughingstock, the Pentagon sure hasn’t gotten the memo.
